Awesome idea. I will have to go through my notes, but yes, I have some key TG threads, including much of the Million-Point March (yay!).

As for the Walter Day KoK response, I actually found that somewhere in Word doc format (attached).

I actually compiled that after I realized that the TG forums might not last much longer. I was right in retrospect, though I didn't think that those posts would come back.

Just wondering... might we want to use the Waybackmachine on the current TG in case it also goes south? Not to be a downer, but it'd just be nice to go through and archive all the DK-related forums on TG every now and then. As i have time, I may start doing this. If you wanna help, let me know and we can maybe systematize the process of doing this (and maybe plan to do it every 6 months or so).

It's a Usenet newsgroup called rec.games.video.arcade.collecting

Google Groups is just a Usenet reader/aggregator, it isn't the source of the content.

Nobody uses newsgroups anymore, but they were basically the forums of the 90s (the 80s too, in fact, Usenet goes waaaay back, to long before the existence of the Web).

Also, is there a special trick to get past the bouncy things (springese) on the elevator level after level 4? They are damn near impossible, at least for me.

I also remember seeing a "strategy guide" somewhere on the 'net and it had the exact strategy to use for that board.  It's a timing thing and has something to do with watching "help" I think?

Never saw that "trick" before.

After more than 14 years, perhaps it's time to refute that suggestion with a frame-by-frame analysis.

Hello everyone:

Just as an FYI, based on recent calculations that I have shared with Steve Wiebe, Bill Mitchell and Chris Ayra, it is conceivably possible to achieve a score of 1.206M on classic DK, but the likelihood of everything going so well for all 117 stages is slim to none.

Still, that's the top-end of what might be possible. And that upper threshold may climb even higher with future submission data. But for now, it implies that there is a LOT of opportunity for a player to take their score up to and over the 1M range.

sweet. i remember reading some of roberts stuff years ago. im pretty sure he did a little write-up about his 1.2m+ estimate somewhere. iirc it was in the report he did comparing steves and billys 1m+ scores at the time.
