Barry 'n Fink's DK Challenge

Get ready to crush your Donkey Kong PB! Beginning October 1st and running through the rest of the year (ending on December 31st at midnight UTC), the Barry 'n Fink DK Challenge is a DK tournament created to help push you to break through barriers and reach new High Score heights. Whether you're shooting for your first 100k, 500k, kill-screen, 1 million, 1.1 million, 1.2 million, etc., this tournament is the place to be for casual and competitive Donkey Kong players!

We will run this tournament via https://www.cagtournaments.com/BarryFink. The signup process is incredibly simple. Let us know if you have any issues creating an account and getting in on the action!

~Here's where it gets spicy~ No matter what your goals are, there are achievements and prizes waiting for you to chase and collect! Below is a breakdown of all the goodies. Note that all of these achievements are dependent on your score being submitted and verified here at DKF. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE THE FIRST TO HIT THESE ACHIEVEMENTS. EVERYONE WHO HITS THEIR FIRST KILL SCREEN, FOR EXAMPLE, WILL WIN $25.

List of achievements:

First-ever 100,000 game: $5
First-ever 500,000 game: $10
First-ever kill screen: $25
First-ever 1 million point game: $50
First-ever 1.1 million point game: $50
First-ever 1.2 million point game: $50
1st place (highest score): $50
2nd place: $25
3rd place: $15
Achieve a new World Record (1,272,900 or higher): $250 (thanks wwdkong!)

Thank you for doing the tournament, it's the barry & fink show. Chip-in here, $250 for a new world record that unifies the belts so to speak, so 1,272,900 or better. Fink's deciding whether to register, but he's eligible regardless. I welcome others to add to the pot.

Hmm. The $250 prize for new world record is only for a score of 1,272,900 or higher? That's weird. I thought 1,272,800 would surpass the current world record of 1,272,700 by John McCurdy which is listed at rank 1 on the leaderboard of this site. Perhaps xelnia could shine some light on this confusing situation.

Yeah, but it just seems strange that your generous donor is making the requirement for "beating the world record" in a tournament which requires DKF confirmation be a score that's 200 higher than the current WR even though someone could conceivably beat it by 100. Why is it that you think he may have chosen that number?

its 'unifying the belts'. a reference for when theres various organizations with their own champ, and having someone be on the top of both. As twin galaxies, guinness, and dkf have 3 different "world record" scores, and 2 different "world record" holders "unify the belt" by its nature is treating all orgs as equal.

of course..... it begs the question if such a score really would unify the belts? will robbie come of retirement and claim this bounty with low voltage? lets watch and see folks
