Just like I loved Spinal Tap when I was a 14-year-old metalhead.
You may enjoy a story a friend of mine recently told me about a random encounter with Christopher Guest. It took place in 2003 or thereabouts.
My friend John works as an attorney in Los Angeles. One day, he drove to an appointment at a client's office on Santa Monica Blvd. Upon his arrival, he was heading down a long walkway that connects the parking garage to the main building. Walking a few steps ahead of him were Christopher Guest and his wife, Jamie Lee Curtis. When they reached the lobby, they boarded the same elevator with a small group of others. My friend pushed the button for the 11th floor, where his client's office was located. The elevator made a couple of stops and everyone else exited, leaving only my friend and the two celebrities. The 11th floor was the only highlighted button on the elevator panel, so the three of them obviously shared the same destination. After riding in silence for a few seconds, my friend couldn't resist the easy setup. He turned to Christopher Guest and asked, "So, are you going all the way up to eleven?" Christopher Guest just smiled and responded in character, "Exactly! All the way up."
