Unofficial List of CK Killscreeners
« on: March 14, 2013, 03:31:40 am »
Does such a list exist like the one Hank started for DK?

If so, you can add me to the list.   I'd previously killscreened it playing a 6+1 man game - did it on my 6th life.

Killscreened it about 10 mins ago on TG settings for the first time ever.   559,900 final score and done on my last life (3rd life lost on board  21-4, thought I was going to choke right at the end for a second  ;D

Probably won't play this again for a while now, would like to possibly try to point press a bit more in the future, reckon I can hit 600k if I really practice but I can't see any possibility of ever being good enough to get much beyond that.  For now I'm just over the moon that I finally got a killscreen on official settings.

Congrats, John! I would also be interested in a compiled list of CK killscreeners/scores!

Crazy Kong was the first kill screen I ever achieved in any Kong variant, and I gotta tell ya, the moment and the buildup to it was the most satisfying, the most exciting, and the most fun of any of them. I downloaded it when I was heavy into my DK training phase, gave it a shot and said "OK, I'm giving myself an ultimatum: kill screen this in 24 hours!" It took me 36. I underestimated it. It came down to me staying up all night, going into a (pardon the pun) crazed state until laying the final smackdown at 4 AM.

DK Japan snuck up on me when I wasn't expecting it, DK MAME was more like "meh, finally," and my first DK arcade kill screen was in public, so that was cool, but none of it was as good as CK. I was so, so excited and pumped. I let out a roar of victory.

And I can't stop loving the game. It's just so shitty and ridiculous.

I've kill screened it once on arcade and once on MAME.  My best was on MAME at 616,500.  I did it the first time on the machine at Funspot and it was my first kill screen on any game.  It was an exciting feeling getting to the end especially on the last rivet stage when I jumped a fireball and crawled up the ladder between 3 fireballs to get the last rivet.

Question: Is the ladder thing actually considered a glitch or is it just in the code to work that way by design?

I know Dk used to run with the ladder save glitch but was fixed so the barrels would steer down so that people would throw more quarters in the machine. I use to wonder if Billy played on that code or the current code back in 1982.

Donkey kong arcade 1-1 12,800 12,200 12,100 and 12,000

I never thought of that.  Is it possible that Billy played his WR game of 800k on the old roms, which had the ladder cheat?  Does anyone have any info about this?

I wondered that myself. The machine I set my 879,200 game on 8/16/2000 was definitely the TKG4 US set 1 roms as one can obviously see the main title screen after the game is finished. After registering my initials in the high score table and what I thought was gamming history at the time, (only to have TG sell it out from under me several years latter) the game cycles through the attract mode, then goes to the main title screen and it clearly states Nintendo of America 1981.

The game serial number was TKG4-UP #45676.

I wonder too as having Walter referee a game Billy played is like having Hitler preside as judge over a Nuremberg trial :/
