I got 400k on my second game I ever played on this game a few years ago. Game 1 was just to learn a little and get the feel for it. I've tried it about a dozen times since then ONLY cuz it's been in tournaments. I struggle to get 300k now cuz I really have no interest in the game.
I'm sure there are plenty of people capable of 1 mil that have no interest.

Really? Lack of interest? There are a couple of major things wrong with this statement in my opinion, and I will address them.
First off there were 28 games in this tourney. You know there is a good way to measure interest in any game. That is seeing where a game ranked in submissions. Well of the 28 games Donkey Kong 3 ranked third. Only the iconic Ms. Pacman, and the super short game Strikers 1945 had more submissions. 79, and 78 respectively.
Next in response to the lack of interest is the fact that this is tourney. It's not just about playing a game you really don't like it's about trying to get as many points as possible for your team. Usually people have a certain competitive spirit that makes it so they won't phone in game play for even a game they think sucks.
Lastly I have noticed you have made the statement more than once about your lack of interest in playing this game. Have you thought that maybe you are a tad bit biased?
What do I mean by that? Well what was the most competed tourney in the 1980's for a video game?
As you know Hector it was Track & Field, which is what I consider your signiture game.
I bring this up because for whatever reason DK3 has gotten more love than TF in the recent tournaments.
So I know if I was in your shoes I would be a little perturbed that Track and Field was taking a back seat to a game that was an afterthought in the 80's.
I am not saying saying this is the reason for your vocal disdain, it's just something that I could see being a tad bit upset about if I was in your shoes, but I am not, so I readily admit I could be totally off base.
By the way I do think track & Field deserved a lot more attention the past few online tournaments. It's a good game.
