The Not Blog Blog
« on: November 25, 2014, 06:57:37 am »
Quick bit about myself. I have a dedicated Donkey Kong machine. Well, DK Jr. with a Donkey Kong PCB. I have a personal high score of 190,000. Set that probably 2 years ago (time is a funny thing, no?). I have been slacking on playing Donkey Kong since then. Just finding it awfully difficult to get motivated. That changed last night when I decided to listen to music while playing. Made the entire experience much more enjoyable.

So I wound up not beating my personal best. However, my last two games were above 100,000. Not great, but early in the night I had been averaging like 60,000. More than that though it was fun playing again and I actually look forward to playing some Donkey Kong again tonight. I'm pretty confident I can hit 200K by Thanksgiving. I know that isn't much, but I'm tired of seeing that top score of mine.

Thanks man. I don't know why I never thought of it before. I guess because I used to only be able to play in stealth mode once my kids went to sleep. But now I'm in the basement (finished) where I can have a little noise.

Yeah, I think it helps especially when you start taking games deeper. Music makes the game "feel" shorter, at least for me anyway. Drinking helps, as well.  :o

Drinking helps early in the night, but not so much as the night wears on. At least for me.  <Pigger>

Once I hit 6+ beers, I can't do the 4+ springs at all. Always ID a long spring too late and get a bad jump.  FailFish

I hear that. Last night I was actually undefeated versus the 4+ springs. I think the music let me turn off my brain and just go when I needed to. Of course, I made plenty of mistakes on the barrels and rivets to make up for it.
