Just to start out, arcades were pretty much on their way out when I started gaming, so I'm really doing this with no previous knowledge of arcade games.

I have been playing Donkey Kong for about 6 years.  Most of that time, it was off and on.  I just now started understanding how to really play it.

Weekly Friday update
Donkey Kong

Just upped my Donkey Kong PB by quite a bit.  I currently have 247,400 as my high score.  I was able to achieve this score after practicing the third elevator stage for over 2 hours with save states.  My biggest problem is still the conveyer stages.  Despite only losing 1 life on conveyers overall, I almost died MANY times.  The fireballs seemed to go down immediately after all 5 had spawned, and as such, I had no free passes.  Does anybody have any tips for these tough stages? I hope to be able to achieve 400,000 during DKO.

I made a bit of progress in learning how this game works.  Most of this was just from watching ross play.  My PB is the same as I am focused on preparing for DKO right now.
Mario Bros.
I was able to get 50,000 yesterday, however, I dont really think its worth updating my scoreboard for.

Today I finally broke 300k with a score of 334k.  I was streaming on twitch too which made it even better!  I even got the .inp file from wolfmame 106.  All is good.

I haven't really been playing any other games on my list.  All of my gaming attention has been towards DK.  I hope to be able to achieve a killscreen in the DKO.

I missed the live session, but watched the entire highlight moments ago.

So now we have another guy who will probably KS this game before me.  Fabulous.

Wow!  Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching my highlight.  I hope it wasn't too boring, as I had to be pretty quiet while recording.  Yeah but anyways I've made some progress that I can't really even believe I've made.  If I get a KS in the DKO, I'll go ahead and submit the score.  I wish you luck in your efforts as well!

Today I was able to achieve a score of 417k in the DKO.  Up until 388k, I had no deaths.  Then, I had two death on an elevator stage, both resulting from a really really short spring.  I have no idea how I can avoid dying from a spring that short, but I guess i'm happy with the score nonetheless.  This was the first game where I really felt like it could be a killscreen, so that's cool.

Yeah, when you see the really short spring, you'll need to train yourself to retreat back to the safe spot on that one as well. Good game though! You can obviously see you have potential to make the KS soon if you keep focused.
