Open Broadcaster Software Guide
So where to start of course the first program you will need is a casting program heres a couple theres more but not really needed
Note OBS only supports directx 10 so any Windows OS XP or Lower will NOT work! Also this software is not for Mac OS or Linux (for now)http://obsproject.com/faqOpen Broadcasting Software

http://xsplit.com/This guide is about casting with OBS because its free and IMO the best one out of those three since xsplit does have a free use
but to get better quality you will have to pay..
So after you installed Open Broadcasting Software lets go over how to use the program
(Make sure OBS is up to date it should ask if you would like to apply the new update when you open the program)
-Scenes Box
This allows you to use setup sources already in place its always good to have at least two setup shots
One when playing and one to use when you have to step out or go afk to add a scene simply right click in the box
-Sources Box
These are the source your capturing whether it will be a camera or game window or even capture card..theres many different things your could do to see what you are capturing hit the preview stream button as you can see I have many different some not active some are..

when looking at your sources you can scale em bigger or smaller..
Click "Edit Scene" then simply click on the source red brackets should appear around the source
drag boxes on the corners to resize
-Window Capture Box
Inner Window = takes off the windows border around the border to just have the game.
Subregion = if you want to capture something apart of a window you can use the sub region and select region to cut it out
example:
color key is basically a chroma key itll attempt to off any color of whatever color you choose to ex. green screen
this option is on most of the other sources
-Settings
Im going to do a quick glance of these since theres alot if there are more questions Ill add them to the faq
Note: Most advanced settings are noted in red text if you try to mess with them. Twitch.tv uses specific settings which OBS will alert you at the bottom of the main page +Encoding
basically how much of your upload do you want to use to cast to twitch to see a approx amount of upload you have
goto speedtest.net aka bitrate
+Broadcast Settings
pick live stream twitch/justin.tv select server closest to you, to find your stream key login to twitch, find the menu (when watching a stream the pane to the left on the homepage upper right
drop down menu) click dashboard on the right you should see Stream Key

I usually do 1920x1080 (monitor resolution) then downscale the resolution to whatever my internet can handle fps 30 or 60
for donkey kong 30 is fine unless your adament about 60 fps which alot of streamers are and also DISABLE AERO!!! cant stress that enough some emulators will screw with the fps with aero on especially if your processor is pretty old or slow

The plugin for OBS we want is Desert Kharon IRC
a few easy steps to get you started!
First Acquire CLR Host Plugin

NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT IN THE RIGHT OBS FOLDER, IF YOU ARE USING x64 (c:\Program Files) or x86 (c:\Program Files (x86)\)then get Desert Kharon Irc

open OBS and then click add Desert Kharon IRC
The rest is pretty easy to understand one thing you might have difficulty is you cannot drag the chat window to make it bigger! You have to specify the resolution of the chat window within the properties and also chat appears at the bottom of the chat window!
