Keep in mind, this is now the EIGHTH time the record has been broken since (and including) when Robbie initially broke it in September 2014. I'm fairly confident Wes will make it nine before too long. The record is now going down an average of once every two and a half months.
I joked in the shoutbox the other day that the higher the DK record goes, the more often it gets broken!
When Robbie initially beat Hank it was a big deal, since Hank had been the champion for over four years, and Wes beating Robbie was pretty spectacular too, given how that went down.
But generally speaking, each specific record-breaking event is becoming less and less newsworthy, simply by dint of how quickly each new score is following the last. I think the gaming press, the blogs *cough* etc., are just taking a more reserved approach nowadays. You can only post the same story so many times...
As for me, I'll put something up on the DK blog soon, but I'll level with ya, it's gonna be short!
