Thank you good sir
dem pots
Congrats, sir! These scores have been verified and the
DK3 HSL has been updated! Since the DIPs for the 627k score were
technically set on marathon, I'll point out that the deaths were at 141,700 - 298,800 - 476,700 - 609,300 - 627,600...and the rest of the lives were killed off. And even though it was quickly made obsolete, the first five deaths for the 250k score were at 121,300 - 141,600 - 224,800 - 226,700 - 250,500. But hey, that 250k score improved on your prior PB of 186k...from 2011.
Now, just throw down any Diff 4 score you'll have the arcade world record!
Also, let me just answer your question here since it might be relevant to other players and they might see my response:
"Can you tell that it's Diff 2 just by gameplay or should I just keep opening the back and showing the DIP switches?"Technically, yes, the difficulty/game settings can be determined from just gameplay video, with a couple caveats:
1) The only method I know to do this requires counting frames (how fast Kong descends the vines and how fast the timer ticks down)...so video quality is a huge factor.
2) This can be done on the very first board, but in the very, very edge case that someone
might want to submit a partial video and we
might consider accepting it, there a few boards with identical behavior...so we would need at least 4 boards worth of video.
3) Maybe there's another method I'm not aware of.
For the curious, the "duplicate" boards are:
Boards 3, 4, 5 in Diff 2 and Diff 3 (the timer ticks every 40 frames and Kong descends every 57 frames if he's not interrupted).
Boards 15, 16, 17 in Diff 2 and Diff 3 (timer 40, Kong 43).
Boards 24, 25, 26 in Diff 1 and Diff 2 (timer 40, Kong 26).
All that being said,
I would really prefer people show the DIPs after every game.
