DK on switch is how I discovered my love for the game (and hours of addictive play) beyond seeing KoK once I had little interest, though I played the NES version on and off as a kid.
I use a Hori RAP Hayabusa to play when in for a session, if I?m just looking to run a few boards for an hour I tend to just make do with the pro controller - agreed the d-pad is not great, I?ve found I drop inputs when pressing for DK points on rivets - a trick I?ve found is to use the thumb stick just while doing that, I find I?m a lot more consistent.
