3 jump buttons, 1 for short, 1 for medium, 1 for long.  Then a lot of yelling.
In the summer that you came
There was something eating everyone
And the sunshine fund was low
We couldn't greet you with a simple hello

Since Donkey Kong is an esport, it would look exactly the same.

Nice shot of Alpiger!

I personally don't like the sports show on TBS(?). Seems more like an attempt to get gamers to watch, than an actual show for gamers. Stick with YouTube an the ocassional DVD documentary.

Well I blame the shit OP for these silly responses, but in seriousness I'm wondering what would have to change to make DK watchable to non-DK people.

For starters the game would have to be much shorter. Yet still a full game would have to be long enough to disincentivize ridiculous low percentage strategies in heads-up play. Currently in heads-up play you almost never see point-pressing, but if the game ended at level 10 I think we'd see a radical shift in strategy.

Just a thought exercise, don't kill me.

a lot of yelling.

Obviously we'd need hype masters shoutcasting all matches. "SO MANY POTATOES!!!!!!!"

Agreed.

To be honest Donkey Kong doesn't have the greatest potential.  I really believe five man Robotron has the greatest potential for success.
It's quick.  Usually ends in less than 10 minutes. Great for commercial TV.
It's frenetic. So much action going on.
The players themselves are bouncing around while playing.
Five man Robotron has everything you could ever want in a game.

I believe it would look like Walter's failed attempt at Donkey Kong *esports.   <Walter>

In case this topic was made to be about a certain (arcade) game named "Donkey Kong", I would suggest watching parts of a certain TV program named "Starcade" that appeared to have had the game being played for examples of it having been played as an "esport".
