I got a kick out of this thread but don't have the energy to reply to it

Yeah, I got a kick out of that too, Steve. I'm not a KLOV member, so I'll reply here (since I have nothing better to do).
And so continues the parade of DK heavyweights:
Mitchell, Wiebe, Chien, Saglio, Willms, Lemay, ScumBum
I Reached the DK Kill Screen in MAME
But I used a save state on the spring board level .
Nice. I did the same thing using the unlimited lives cheat. I made it to the killscreen with only 62 deaths. I was pumped.
I played for 20 minutes at a time over a few days .
Interesting. I play for 30 seconds at a time. I can usually finish a game in less than 18 months.
Barrel Level - Learn to control the barrels and its easy , I never die .
Hmmm. Sounds tricky. How about JRTFBDN ?
Actually, this reminds me of an old Steve Martin routine:
"That's right, you too can be a millionaire and never pay taxes. How? It's really quite simple. First, get a million dollars. Ok, so now..."
Pie Factory - Wait on the left side of the fire , just as the last 2 fireballs are coming out , run for it up the ladders .
Which ladders? This is cutting edge stuff. I suspect Hank already knows about it. Sadly, Vincent does not.
Rivet Stage - Theres a pattern , Its hard to explain , but its the common pattern in the "How To Win At DK " book , which makes this level easy . I think its harder in the beginning levels because the fireballs move slow and if your waiting for them to move out of the way to get the rivets , the time runs out . Later levels they move fast , so I actually find it easier because they get out of the way .
I know, right? I have no idea what the original programmers were thinking, but the L5+ rivets are a complete joke. Lately, as soon as I see the stack of 6 monkeys, I grab a set of cordless drills and begin juggling while I play. It's a bit expensive, considering I don't use the tools for anything else, but I've got to do something to make the stage even remotely challenging.
Spring Board - Hardest part of the whole game . If you can master this to never die , you've mastered the game .
Couldn't agree more. That initial jump onto the up elevator is a death trap. If I could overcome that obstacle, I'd have the MAME record in the bag.
