Eyewear and Playing DK
« on: December 20, 2014, 12:53:17 am »
I was just wondering who has what sort of eyewear when playing DK. I thought of this question today, since I find that my wearing of contacts greatly bothers me during longer play. I'm kinda thinking of getting DK-specific glasses. Any thoughts? Anyone play with glasses and have it bother them? Anyone recently get a prescription and have to adjust to eyewear?

I wear glasses and contacts, but I don't make a specific choice to wear one or the other while gaming. It does seem that my eyes dry out much faster if I'm wearing contacts while gaming...especially during something like Pac-Man CE DX when my eyes are open for like 10 minutes straight. ;D

I'm unable to wear contacts while playing. After roughly 30 minutes my eyes dry out and they become really uncomfortable. I wear glasses  <Kuh>  while playing always, I really light pair with spring hinges on the arms that fit comfortably. Emporio Armani do a nice range that are affordable and they look pretty awesome also  8) worn them for years.

Yeah, after about 10 levels, contacts start drying out for me (mainly, up top on the springs stage). This makes me have to waste too much time blinking and hoping they don't fall out.

When I'm playing on MAME, I'll always have f.lux running to reduce eye strain. Google it and give it a try, it makes a HUGE difference.

Any of you guys considered laser treatment to correct your vision?

Lucky bastard  ;)

I've considered going all "LeBron James" and getting prescription-less glasses. I just look more dynamic and resourceful with glasses on.

When sporting my glasses, I look like I'm pondering some deep philosophical question.  In reality, I'm usually wondering whether there are more pink hearts or green clovers in a typical box of Lucky Charms.

Yeah, I have been seriously considering it. Been talking with a fellow employee about how he got laser eye treatment and loved it. Might look into it further. (pun intended)

I use glasses all the time. Now with my Mario wide body, the monitor is upright, not tilted, and is right in front of my face. I had wondered if taking my glasses off or at least lowering the brightness on the monitor would help.
