Original 1981 DK Cocktail Restore
« on: April 08, 2019, 12:33:25 am »
After several years of putting this project down, I have finally finished. I have tons of before pictures that I have already shared here. I will share a few more with the after/completed.

Details on what was restored:

New switching power supply. I kept the original and will someday recap it.
New Coin Mech
New Joysticks, original buttons cleaned
New Joystick guards
Recapped Monitor/soundboard
CPU/Game Board rebuilt by Mike's Arcade
New Coin Door Lock/security screws
New/original side lock key from Japan - thanks to Mike's Arcade
Powder coated the entire chassis, controllers, and legs. Buffed aluminum legs and painted black attached inserted leg parts.
New feet.
Restored simulated woodgrain with rosewood - fixed broken table top before.
New felt tape around tabletop
New anti-glare glass top, buffed top corner brackets.

All other inside hardware has been cleaned.

Some before restore pictures:

Looks like it was a lot of work; does the monitor have DK3 burn?

A lot of work indeed.  Yes, DK JR light burn - these monitors a very rare so I recapped and really can't see the burn-in when on or off/behind the monitor cover.

This looks great. I do have one question about functionality:  Does the completely vertical control panel being located as it is make it difficult to play for extended periods?

You did an awesome job of restoring this unit!

No, not at all.  I am 2nd guessing the clear joystick guard though.  I'm sure these things will crack and break off soon.

Thanks for the kind words.
