Bug in conveyer stage: climbing the ladder to the top

Has anyone else encountered this? I was playing the game and well, Mario wouldn't let go of the ladder. I just climbed right up to the bonus timer and won the stage.

You can also climb down through the bottom and complete the stage when he wraps up to the top. Neat glitch, but yeah it's known. Has to do with getting misaligned with where the ladder expects you to be when it either extends or contracts.

Hmm, interesting. I've just been trying to climb down the bottom ladders, but don't seem able to. There's probably a trick I don't know about.

I was able to recreate the glitch I posted originally, by positioning Mario near the top of the ladder by the time it starts to collapse.
