A quick glance at Gemant's PDF of arcade world records shows this entry alongside 1943 :
SGP-SV-TNK - 4,402,550 - Mobi x 4 Daihiryuu x 33 二度爆 x 11
What exactly is "二度爆"? A quick google translation shows it means something along the lines of Double Boss Explosion. But without footage, it's not evident what this glitch does OR how to trigger it.
Not anymore, atleast.
To summarize the bug, double boss explosion will cause the main core of
Battleship bosses to explode twice, spawning 8 shrapnels worth 10,000 points each, instead of 4. (Also, it might cause double mobichan?) You can do this 11 times throughout the game, resulting in a possible gain of 440,000 points if you can execute it all 11 times as well as destroy all shrapnel pieces.
By the way, this bug is
AUTOFIRE ONLY Trying to do it No-Autofire will be far too inconsistent, if not impossible to execute at all. So this will most likely not appear in any MARP or whatever highscore board. It's rather simple to understand why this bug occurs on a technical level as I'll explain :
The main core of the battleship can be destroyed to trigger the end of boss explosion, as well as destroying all parts of the battleship triggers it too. The main core has a
lot of hitpoints, I am not sure it's exact value (128?) but it is a very defensive target
A small anomaly of 1943, is that the core's hitbox is actually still active during the first explosion! This anomaly is what causes the bug in it's entirety.
To execute the bug, you must do the following :
1: Damage the core enough to bring it down to single digit HP using 30hz Auto combined with Tsunami bombs to lock the screen scrolling to do more and more damage in the small amount of time you have.
2: Once the core is damaged enough, wait for the ship to get a little lower on the screen so you can start to damage the final remaining turret.
3: Kill the final turret.
4: While the first explosion is happening you have enough time to bring the core's HP down to 0, causing the explosion event to happen a second time! resulting in 4 more shrapnel spawning.
The core's hitbox is not able to be damaged for quite some time, this is a rather tight bug to pull off, even with autofire 30hz! So to consistently pull it off, some intense routing and positioning will be needed.

I hope someone tries to score very high with this technique being available to everyone now.
