I decided to do a side by side comparison with how many competitive players play Tennis of some form, and how many competitive players play Donkey Kong. There are about 50 million people worldwide who play competitive tennis of some form. There are about 500 people (Very generous estimate) that play Donkey Kong competitively.
So I then looked at the payout for tennis players. People in the top 250 usually go to $150,000 weekly pay out tournaments. Players in the top 500 go to $35,000 pay out tournaments. So I noticed that the tournament prize money gets divided by 4 every time the amount of players involved doubles. So I broke this down to the point of 500. And I came up with how much in tournament money Donkey Kong players should get.
If we had a weekly tournament the Tournament should be $2.00 in prizes
If we had a monthly tournament the tournament should be $10.00 in prizes
If we only had a tournament every 3 months the there should be $30.00 in prizes.
If there was only one Donkey Kong tournament a year the prize money should be about $120 in prizes.
Now for DKJr., and DK3. Well a once a year tournament should be about $30 in prizes.
I actually won $500 in DK3 money. So doing the math, even if I don't get another dime of DK3 prize money for the next 10 years I will still have been over paid. Basically I think all of us have been over paid.
