gentlemen (and allen) <Allen> Kappa,
I believe my monitor may be going the way of the dodo and dying out. i have dark spots and dark lines on the lower half of the screen. anyone else had this issue, and if you have, what did you do to fix it? i followed the 20ezv flowchart, and it may be a transistor failure or i may need http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=136_144&products_id=387&zenid=h6mhqjf8juvn174pind3s53916 (http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=136_144&products_id=387&zenid=h6mhqjf8juvn174pind3s53916)
any help is greatly appreciated. Kreygasm

also,
I tested the sw301 switch, and when i switch it, it gives me a single line in the center of the monitor. it doesn't give me any "dark" spots, so i don't know if that will help diagnose the issue......

I might as well mine the knowledge base too. :) Is my monitor dying? My top screen starts out unreadable and then comes in but with a lot of color missing. After a long time it may become normal. Any ideas?

Time for a cap kit! I've probably capped 10 sanyo monitors... Lots of people hate working on them, but it is probably my favorite monitor to work on!
BTW, the problem it looks like you may have is commonly referred to as Jailbars

any hang-ups we should know about before trying?

The hardest part is removing and re-installing the monitor chassis... make sure its discharged!!!
as far as the cap kit goes, its much easier if you have a desoldering iron! Back when I was an amateur I used to heat up the solder with my regular iron and go back and fourth on the legs until I could pull the old cap out... Hours wasted until I got the desoldering iron from Radio Shack!

Thanks for the diagnosis , I will go get a desoldering iron and dig into this. ;D

On your flyback, you have the brightness turned up a tad too high. Use a mirror, and play with the brightness on the flyback, and the brightness knob on the remote board and you will be able to tune it in sweet. A cap kit never hurts either if it has been a couple decades!
