We need to start planning some hotel arrangements now for the people that will be coming from overseas and need to start booking things to save every little $$$ they can. Post as needed below with your various situations/plans so that others can coordinate with you! Thanks!
I'll say up front that I am willing to room with anyone that wants to, and that I would like to room with as many people as possible to lower the costs as much as possible. I would be completely fine sleeping on the floor if we ended up getting that many people in our room. I would prefer to stay at the Crown Plaza, which was the main hotel suggested for last year's Kong Off. I found that hotel to be great, as long as you have a full room (or fuller) to split the costs.

Sorry, I'm probably (like 75% sure) flying. But let's keep in touch, cuz if you get desperate, I'm sure we can make something work. I have my friend Alex coming with me, and he is into theological/philosophical stuff (much like we are) so if we drove, it would make for some sweet conversations! :)
EDIT: Another thing is, I'm gonna be going to Denver a few days early to make sure everything is a-okay with Vince and my DK manuals that we will be selling during the KO3.

Anyone else is welcome to join our room. Once we get 4, we'll book a room, but we'll still be open for more people to join in to lower costs even further! (I can sleep on the floor, if need be)

I want to be clear here. I have no desire to stay in a hotel with 3 dudes especially if one of those dudes is engaging in any kind of burrito eating contest. I just want to know how much I would have to chip in to FORCE you to sleep in the floor beside an empty bed or preferably sleep in the hallway? Wait! scratch that. How much to get you to sleep in the lobby and yell at the front desk receptionist to keep it down every time they try to do there job?

I'm cool with that. Only issue is the crown plaza was only giving "the rate" for those 3 days which doesnt work for me. I was going to fly out on Thur and Fly back on monday (Otherwise I get in late Friday and have to leave early sunday missing the awards/etc). I'm game to share a room to help save the cost.

Ok, I'll be booking my room at the Crown Plaza this week for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night of the KO3 week. I will be trying to find a different place to stay on Wednesday night, since I will be arriving Wednesday afternoon.
Please respond here if you want to be in my room, as well as what nights you want to use the room. You only have to split costs for the nights you will be using the room (i.e. If there are 3 guys in the room on Thursday night, the cost for that night is split 3 ways... but if there are 4 guys on Friday night, that night is split 4 ways).
So far these are the people I know of for sure (please confirm as well!):
-Mitchell Elliott..............(Thurs-Sun night)
-Corey Chambers..........(Thurs - Sun night ?)
I'll be editing this list as people are added.

I would assume that there is shuttle bus service that runs from Denver International Airport to the hotel. How much does it cost (I am too cheap to pay for a cab) and does it run all night? I am arriving early Friday morning at around midnight.

Yea, I forget the name of the shuttle service, but you pay 1 price at the airport (I think $20 or something, it wasn't bad), and you get a ticket for the shuttle to drop you off, and then pick you up and bring you back to the airport. For me, I got picked up around 2:30am when the 1up closed, and went straight to the airport for an early flight last year. So yea I think the shuttle runs at all hours...and they'll pick you up from pretty much anywhere.
Mitch I think you may be out of luck for rooms...or at least no more rooms at a discounted rate. The football game and other events that weekend made for a much busier downtown Denver weekend this year, I believe.

The Ramada is 2 miles away and $74 a night right now and La Quinta Inn Denver Central is 0.85 miles away and $87 a night.
I will be there Wednesday - Monday. Check-In Wed - Check-Out Monday

Super shuttle. $20 and will take you anywhere within reason.

Bummer, I just called and checked and can confirm that the discounted rates are sold out for the Crown Plaza.
Dan, I'd be interested in the La Quinta (since it is so close) do you want me to book a double-king-bed room, or have you already done so? I can do this today if you haven't. It'll actually make the trip significantly cheaper for me (and whoever stays with me), so I don't mind the change.
EDIT: I went ahead and booked a room (since there is free cancelation). Booked 2 double beds from Thursday (the 14th) through Sunday (to the morning of the 18th, Monday). Haha, I should have done this last year... it's like 3-4x cheaper.
2nd EDIT: Dan, I just saw that you are arriving on Wednesday as well. Want me to book a room at the same place for just you and me on that night? I may just be able to extend my first booking and we can do the math later so only we pay for that extra day.

Anyone have any room available for this guy? I had made arrangements with a friend of mine and he just cancelled today. I also have a friend in Denver I might crash with, but I just need a backup plan.

Robbie, there is one spot open in my room with Dan and Corey. We are at the La Quinta Inn .81 miles from the 1up. If you join us, it'd be like $25 a night for each person (super cheap!). What nights are you in Denver? Dan also booked a car for all the days (he is arriving on wednesday, same as me), so if you wanna split that $85 cost with Dan, Corey and I as well, we can pick you up from the airport and save you the shuttle costs. Dan said he's found free parking, so there'll hopefully be no parking costs for that either.
Note: I have offered this spot to Dean as well, but he has not messaged me back yet. If he decides to still join, I've offered to sleep on the floor, as he is a main competitor and will need his sleep more than I will.

I havent booked my flight yet, but I can plan around your guy's schedule since flights from AZ to Denver are frequent and cheap. What are your flight details?

I think Dan said he was landing Wednesday morning (10:30am I think???). I land Wednesday at 6:36pm. Dan will be picking me up.

Dan and I both leave Monday afternoon. I think he said 4:30pm, and I'm at 5:40pm.

I can get a flight to leave Monday at 3pm if that works. It depends if you want me to arrive Wednesday at 1130am or 940pm.

Yeah the hotel has free "overnight" parking it said and when I was there last year I parked in a lot a few blocks away that was like $5 a day (Course this was the "weekend" rate so it maybe different during the week?).
Yeah this hotel was like $90-$100 i think and its "newly renovated" and close so shouldn't be too bad. I have a car as well in case we want to zoom someplace else. :D
I get in at 10:52am on Wed and leave at 4:05pm on monday so I'll probably head back around 2pm to the airport since I ain't checking a bag :D

Just reposting and updating this in case anyone missed it and wants to correct some things (i.e. please help me clarify anywhere I have a '?'):
So far these are the people I know will be in my room at the la Quinta Inn .81 miles from the 1up for about $105 per room per night (rooms has two double beds):
-Mitchell Elliott..............(Wed to Mon)
-Dan Desjardins............(Wed to Mon)
-Robbie Lakeman...........(Wed to Mon)
-Corey Chambers..........(Thurs to Mon)
Also, Dan has rented a car for $85 for the 5 days, these are the people splitting the renting/gas/parking costs so far (and will also be able to call and get transported to/from the airport):

I should note, I have offered a spot in our room to Dean as a backup plan. If he needs to join us, I'll volunteer to sleep on the floor so that he can get better sleep.

I'll be booking my flight this week as my funds are tied up right now. I plan on being there Wednesday at 1130am and leaving Monday at 3pm. I will post the details when I book it. And I will also be fine splitting rental car costs.

Got my money situation figured out since banks were open today. But apparently flights double in price within a day, so I wasn't able to get the flights I desired, but still arriving wednesday and leaving thursday.
I fly into Denver at 2:20 on Wednesday, and I fly out Monday at 1240 pm. Let me know if anyone has similar plans or could get me to and from the airport. I would also like to take up on your offer Mitch for the hotel room if that spot is still available. I am looking forward to this event more than anything!

LOL. It was funny seeing the views and posts drop significantly a week ago when Corey, Jeremy and I were all very busy cramming out a ton of the DK manual all afternoon/evening (the shoutbox was silent too! *gasp*). I realized that that was basically taking out 3 of the top 20 posters/viewers (2 of which are in the top 4!)! It seems like usually people kinda trade off picking up the slack in terms of DKF postings, but it's actually quite interesting how if you take out a few of the cogs in the wheel it doesn't quite snowball as drastically as it normally would.

Pick up/etc isn't an issue. I'm sure the rental car will give me grief about drivers unless I have you with me so they can get your license. It's all good I'll make sure I can drop-off-/pickup.

Hi guys,
This is kind of late in the game but I'm planning on being in Denver visiting family the week of the Kong Off, so I was planning on going down to the 1-Up on Saturday and Sunday.
I'm not going to be able to stay with family on Saturday and Sunday so if there is anyone that has a spot in a hotel downtown and wants to defray costs some, please let me know.
I do have a room reserved at a hotel 4 miles from downtown, but don't have transportation between the arcade and the hotel, so it would be a lot nicer to be downtown.

Dan, I called the hotel. Turn out that we can't check in until 3pm and making so that you can check in for me is kinda a hassle. Is it ok if you just hang out at the 1up for a while before coming to get robbie and me?

The 1up may be open. If not, then you may be able to get someone's attention to let you chill in the upper floor area like they did for many of us last year.

They should open at 3pm tomorrow, which is just about the earliest you can get there from DIA with a 2:20 flight arrival.
I'm heading there in a few minutes to get some practice in and will ask around. If it's anything other than normal hours, I'll report in.
