Post by: ralphcity on April 18, 2013, 07:43:08 pm
HEY LA KONG FANS!

Come check out King of Kong: The Musical at iO West in Hollywood or at Sacred Fools Theater!

This 2 person satirical musical is a free-wheeling adaptation of the cult documentary film King of Kong, which followed two men on an epic quest to best one another in the 80’s arcade game Donkey Kong. This new, musical features original songs “Failure Is Just A Success That You Failed To Succeed At”, “What Billy Mitchell Wants Billy Mitchell Gets”, and “A Fistful Of Quarters Is A Fistful Of Dreams”. Audiences will laugh-out-loud at this night of music and comedy inspired by Donkey Kong himself.

Lauren Van Kurin is Steve.
Amber Ruffin is Billy.
Directed by Brendan Hunt.
Music and Lyrics by David Schmoll and Amber.
Written by LVK and Amber.
King of Kong: The Musical! is a Dan Wessels idea.

I want to see this VERY BADLY.

I found out about the first LA show like 8 hours before the performance, which was too bad, because I might have been in the position to get down there that day.

I want it!

If nothing else, I will buy the soundtrack, sight unseen.

Hang on, this appears to be a different production than the one I heard about initially (http://losangeles.ucbtheatre.com/shows/view/3290)...

With reversed genders??

If anything I want to see it more now.

There can never be too many Donkey Kong-related musicals, I suppose.
