I'd that's the case, why do we have a pie factory support group?

I replied.

Sure it's not a "real" kill screen, but be nice!

Spring Board - Hardest part of the whole game . If you can master this to never die , you've mastered the game .

I'm always nice  :)

I was more interested in the simple terms he managed to reduce the game to.  He must have been awesome working with lowest common denominators BITD.

I smiled at that too.

Rude awakening coming soon!

I don't know , those guys seem to be like a bunch of trendy wanna bes that all worship the King Of Kong . I mean come on , it was a fake stupid movie ! About as real as every reality tv show on History Channel . It just seems like they are all jumping on the DK band wagon because of that movie and "its cool" to like DK now . I love DK and have loved it for years . Seeing all those hipsters talk about it is kinda annoying . The only thing that movie did was bring a bunch of wanna be's into the arcade scene . I like KLOV way better , its got real arcade guys over here .

Scratch the "being nice" thing, Wag.

I'll cancel the ham I had planned to mail as a peace offering.

Yeah, I got a kick out of that too, Steve.  I'm not a KLOV member, so I'll reply here (since I have nothing better to do).

And so continues the parade of DK heavyweights:

Mitchell, Wiebe, Chien, Saglio, Willms, Lemay, ScumBum   ???

I Reached the DK Kill Screen in MAME

But I used a save state on the spring board level .

Nice.  I did the same thing using the unlimited lives cheat.  I made it to the killscreen with only 62 deaths.  I was pumped.

I played for 20 minutes at a time over a few days .

Interesting.  I play for 30 seconds at a time.  I can usually finish a game in less than 18 months.

Barrel Level - Learn to control the barrels and its easy , I never die .

Hmmm.  Sounds tricky.  How about JRTFBDN ?

Actually, this reminds me of an old Steve Martin routine:

"That's right, you too can be a millionaire and never pay taxes.  How?  It's really quite simple.  First, get a million dollars.  Ok, so now..."

Pie Factory - Wait on the left side of the fire , just as the last 2 fireballs are coming out , run for it up the ladders .

Which ladders?  This is cutting edge stuff.  I suspect Hank already knows about it.  Sadly, Vincent does not.

Rivet Stage - Theres a pattern , Its hard to explain , but its the common pattern in the "How To Win At DK " book , which makes this level easy . I think its harder in the beginning levels because the fireballs move slow and if your waiting for them to move out of the way to get the rivets , the time runs out . Later levels they move fast , so I actually find it easier because they get out of the way .

I know, right?  I have no idea what the original programmers were thinking, but the L5+ rivets are a complete joke.  Lately, as soon as I see the stack of 6 monkeys, I grab a set of cordless drills and begin juggling while I play.  It's a bit expensive, considering I don't use the tools for anything else, but I've got to do something to make the stage even remotely challenging.

Couldn't agree more.  That initial jump onto the up elevator is a death trap.  If I could overcome that obstacle, I'd have the MAME record in the bag.

Irony, the hipster's weapon of choice.

I don't like people being called a hipster.  Do we all have ironic mustaches and tshirts?  I do use KLOV for arcade parts.  Interesting how people are so opinionated about DK.  I do agree that it's an easy game...if you have a Selleck stache.

Thank god someone simplified the game for me after all this time, I look forward to improving my 266K score to a killscreen - probably tomorrow if I follow all those hints and tips  8)
