Yes, in 1982 somebody did a TRS-80 version of Donkey Kong. How they got away with calling it that commercially, I don't know. Or maybe they didn't. They may have got busted for all I know. If you are too young to remember the TRS-80, please turn off your computer, go outside, and play sports or chase members of the opposite sex or something.
Anyway, for the primitive graphics of the TRS-80, I'm surprised they did so well with it.
The levels and stages progress just like the US arcade version. Here's a video:

Just for laughs, I have a DK Forum t-shirt for whoever can score the highest on the first three levels:

Take a screenshot of your score when you finish the rivets stage on level 3. If you have the highest such score so far, you must post the screenshot to this thread as soon as you are able. (Honor system.)
Deadline for entry will be 1400 hours US Pacific Daylight Time on Sunday, July 23, 2017.

I haven't tested the gameplay mechanics much myself, but I'm impressed how faithfully they were able to reproduce the stages in 128x48 pixels, visually.

Start a track for Most Icons on Desktop. I'll go "Todd Rodgers" on all your asses.
And, on further research, it seems that this game was never sold commercially. From trs-80.org (http://www.trs-80.org/donkey-kong/):
“We never marketed this game because we couldn’t get permission from Nintendo, however we had so much fun writing it, we didn’t care.â€
I'd have called it "TANDEY KONG" and told Nintendo to kiss my ass.
In fact, I did write a version of Pac-Man for the TRS-80 back then (called Shack-Man), but I wasn't able to sell it to a software company.
Looks like serphintizer has the bar set at 64,500.

Just under 24 hours to go and serphintizer still leads with 76,600.
