Dates
Now to December 21st-Nominations of games
December 22nd to January 15th-Voting for the games
January 20th to January 26th-Draft
January 26th to March 1st-Length of the contest at 11:59 pm est

Players will nomination 1 Game per selection of dates. Submit it through this form.

7 Games from each range of dates for a total of 28 games

Adjudication â€“ We understand different people have access to different equipment - both for broadcast/recording and gameplay (e.g arcade/MAME cabinets). With that in mind - and a desire to be as inclusive as possible since this is just for fun - the official policy will be "make your best effort to provide evidence." While video and/or INP is still the best form of evidence, we will also accept screenshots, photographs, and in-person verification as evidence for arcade cabinets and other situations (e.g. batteries fail, memory cards fill up) where a more complete form of evidence is not available or easily accessible. Every score is subject to challenge / review, regardless of what forms of evidence is supplied. Therefore, it is in every player's best interest to provide as much evidence as possible.

Other Rules
Overall Top 5 scores require an inp, video or stream
-The score you claim must be done on the first credit of your inp recording. Failure to do so will result in your score being changed to what it was for the first credit.
-To encourage good sportsmanship, no recording can be uploaded 24 hours after you recorded it. If these periods are violated, then that person's score for that game will be changed to zero.
-No Autofire
No Pausing
If using an inp file can use one of the following: latest WolfMAME, WolfMAME .106, or RetroUprising
All scores require at least a screenshot

Scoring

will be Top 5 from each team per game will score points for their team

Registering Is not Open At The Current Time but you can sign up here so I can alert you when it is opened

Most of them are forgettable, and there isn't much of a choice, sometimes the settings can be confusing, and lastly, not everyone has computers that can play these games at the required rate.

Also, not to sound like a Classics Elitist, but I think a higher percentage of games should be from 1984 and earlier. There were just a lot more games produced back then, the controls are usually simple, the games typically don't have continues and as many leeching opportunities, etc. It would just make for a more fun tourney, in my opinion. For every one game each (three total) from 85-89, 90-94, and 95-99, there should be three from pre-'85. <pacman> <blinky>

This should be a great cure for the mid winter blues! (Not to mention building out a Twitch channel... but haven't taken the leap to actually stream yet.)

This means tons of cool new features rolling out in the near/far future. The only thing different is you'll log in with a TG account instead of the account you had to make on the tourney site in the past.

Can I just throw in two little things?

1. TG registration required

I've had nothing but high praise for Wes's site and Wolfie's get-up-and-go spirit, and if they've decided this is the way forward then it's all good IMO. I can't help feeling, though, that there may some be folk who played in last year's Yolympics, or some folk who aren't big fans of TG (or indeed are actively hostile towards it <Tim> ) who might be a bit disgruntled with this. I hope we don't lose too many.

2. Number of teams

Assuming this contest has higher participation than last year's, might it be an idea to have a couple more teams? I'm not volunteering to be a captain again this year, just thinking that if we have more than 100 sign-ups (there are 30-odd already in the first 24 hours) that's a pretty unwieldy amount of players per team.

Anyway, looking forward to it all as usual! Kreygasm

Brian, I wouldn't take it as "taking so much flack" or whatever. I think people would love to see you participate and would like to encourage you. I don't think anyone is trying to make you feel bad about not participating. Please, play what you want to, but try to understand that we are accepting you and want you to be part of it.

I played just 2 lives last time just to be safe... but 4 lives to start would be nice.
