Title: My First Killscreen

8/19/2014 @ 16 Bit Bar in Columbus OH. I remembered to show the game cycle through the title screen and even tried to show the 4-way joystick, but I forgot to restart to show the game starting with 3 jumpmen.

Robert: the restart rule only applies to getting on the official DKF high score list.

The kill screeners list is different. It's "unofficial" and more relaxed. If someone claims a kill screen, we know them, have seen them play, and they seem kill-screen capable or have some other evidence, we'll generally put them on that list.

Jason's score here is not eligible for the official high score list (because he did not show the restart), but we know from his streams that he's good enough to kill screen, so he is OK for the kill screeners list.

Hey Robert,

This congratulatory thread doesn't necessarily mean that Jason's (I think it's Jason Wade, apologies if I'm wrong) score will be added to the official list - that's a call that can only be made by the scorekeepers, and trusting in their infinite wisdom, we will all abide by whatever they decide.

The killscreen badge and the tracking of the number of killscreens is less official than the "master list".  In other words, if you say you got a killscreen, and you have virtually any measure of proof, the community will celebrate your achievement; but the scorekeepers have to keep things very neat and tidy to ensure that every score they "officially" recognize meets the same universal standards.

I hope this makes sense.

Congrats Mr. Wade, sir.

Now that #69 has been claimed, what magic numbers are still up for grabs?

I'll suggest the following:

81		The year of the game's release
100		The century mark is a natural choice
117		Level 22-1 is board #117

As Chris and Ross have already pointed out, the  Donkey Kong Kill-Screener Timeline (https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=18.msg39#msg39)  is an unofficial list with a more relaxed set of criteria.  We congratulate Jason for the notable achievement, while recognizing that his KS game does not qualify for inclusion on the High Score List.

Not to worry, we apply the same uncompromising standards for everyone.

I'm confident that Jason will make a splash on the HSL soon enough.

Thank you, everyone.

DKF has definitely helped my game. My high score progression went up like a hockey stick after I started watching live streams. Special thanks to the KSers before me who have displayed their skills and methods on twitch.
