- Contestant’s stream quality must be sharp enough to read the level and score at a glance (as well as the rest of the game play).  If there is ANY question of score and level due to bad quality stream, that submission will be rejected, instantly, with no exceptions. I suggest that you test your streams and check them from time to time to make sure they are working correctly.

   * If a submitted game qualifies for more than 1 bounty, the contestant is solely responsible for specifying which bounty they are claiming and they can only claim a single bounty (and the refs will consider only the specified bounty for the score submission). For example, if I have a game where I am the first to a million points and a kill screen, I claim the million point bounty and the kill screen bounty remains open for other contestants to claim.
   * If a contestant tries to claim a bounty however is not awarded that bounty for some reason (i.e., they were incorrect about the bounty or another contestant's score submission invalidates their bounty claim), the contestant may try to claim another bounty on one of their next score submissions.

   * Please remember that the bounty system was introduced for fun and to spread around some extra money to the contestants. Any disputes over the bounties will be settled accordingly by Eric.

- Games started before the official contest start time (no matter how close to the official contest start time) will not be eligible.
- Games started after the official contest end time (no matter how close to the official contest end time) will not be eligible.
- Last game can be started any time before the official contest end time (no matter how close to the official contest end time).
- Scores can be submitted up until 4 hours past the official contest end time.
- You cannot use save/load states, continues or any other types of cheats/tricks.
- NOTE: Any player who wants their scores to be included on the Donkey Kong High Score List will need to submit their performance to the Score Submissions thread and make sure they follow the List Submission Rules.

- The contestant who wins the pot cannot collect any other prize money for the same tournament (top player positions or bounties).
- Any contestant, including the current WR holder, is eligible to win the pot.
- Any contestant who wishes to donate more money to the pot, please contact Eric Tessler.

I would like to ensure the $50 for a first time million or 1.1 million score bounty is still there all. $50 for the first person to get 1 million if you have not before or 1.1 million if you have not before. Also $50 if you get 1.2 million as well even if you have done it before!  Kappa

Note just one bounty here not three. First person to claim the multi-score bounty wins. Good luck all!

P.S. Eric if you have any issues with this bounty i'll delete this post but I'm pretty sure you won't so thanks again!  Kreygasm

Just out of curiosity, why this clarification?

Clarifications
- DK kill screen: any game forced death on any level 22 board

Why doesn't it say "any game forced death on level 22-1 board"?

- Daniel Desjardins: $50 to the first player to achieve 1,200,000 or more points for their game submission who has not done this before

Hey Eric,

I believe another update is in order, as the wording for the 1.2M bounty is not quite what Dan intended (i.e., the bounty may be claimed by any player, whether a first-time achievement or not).

EDIT:  I hope Chuck Vess claims it.

I was looking for a FAQ or something in the General Streaming section but couldn't find the answers I needed.

1) How do you set your Twitch channel to save streams for later review?  I notice that it used to save stuff automatically but doesn't anymore.

2) If I were to participate I'd probably try MAME for my first DKO since it's easier to set up.  Is there a specific MAME version I should be using?

3) Do I need to just stream and have it set to save my stream, or do I need to be saving an input for the run also?

Thanks,

-Shaun

Hi Shaun,

1) Go to https://secure.twitch.tv/settings/channel and you will find a checkbox you can select to save your broadcasts. Be sure you click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the form.

2) I think any version of WolfMAME 106+ will work.

3) Be sure you save the INP if you use WolfMAME. To do this, just go to the WolfMAME directory in the command line (Start > Run > "cmd") and execute record.bat using the command "record dkong dkong".

For #3 what are the arguments there?  record [arg1] [arg2]  I'm guessing the rom filename and the input filename?  Which is which?

rom name is first, .inp filename is second.  It's basically "record dkong rom to dkong .inp filename"

what are you using to stream?  As Wes suggests, twitch will archive, and you can then create highlights from the archive.  If you are using OBS, there is a "start recording" button underneath the "start streaming" button, which will allow you to record locally.  If you go into OBS settings->broadcasting you can set the location that recorded files are saved, and there is also a checkbox to automatically start recording locally when starting a stream.

If you're using xsplit or some other program, I'm not familiar with those softwares.

Thanks for confirming the args, appreciate.

I've been using OBS to stream some other games.  Works well for me.  I'm not sure about saving recordings locally I feel like that would fill up disk space fast?  I'll probably stream to Twitch and record the input to start.

Cheers thanks again

OBS's compression is pretty good.  If you have bitrate set to 3500kbps (max you would ever need for 1080p), it will take up about 1.6 GB/hr.  But yes, letting Twitch do all the archiving is certainly the easier way to go.

NOTE: Jason Brittain has now received a lifetime ban for my donkey kong online contests. He has been caught lying and breaking rules intentionally over the past few days and I will not tolerate that kind of behavior. He has been warned time and time again.

In the future if anyone is aware of any fake accounts that he is trying to use, please let me know.

Thanks!!!

I was having trouble jumping quickly on the keyboard so I bought a webcam to stream my DK machine.  Only played a few nights so far and didn't get any scores worth submitting.

I was bummed out today because I can't play tonight and for some reason was convinced the tourney ended at midnight tonight.  Now I see that I have the rest of the weekend.  That's great news for me, maybe I still have a shot to put up a new personal best.

Cheers and happy new year guys!
