Nintendo Arcade Switcher
« on: July 14, 2014, 03:12:26 pm »
I have been swapping out my Junior and DK pcb in my good cab. I wanted to set it up where I could switch between the two, and also in a way that would not make anyone suspicious that anything has been tampered with. I saw this video and thought of getting the stuff for it. Anyone have any thoughts or alternative suggestions.

I really wish these were available for sale... I would have bought one 6 months ago lol!!!

There is another option through vector labs, but it is out of my price range...

I wish cambridge arcade would offer these for sale!

I have 2x the vector labs one. I have 4 boards in my Pauline cab and 3 in Big Red. Money well spent.

Thanks, Ken. Do you have an exact link to what I am looking for from vector labs? I think this is the one used in the video. http://cambridgearcade.dyndns.org/?q=node/99

The one you listed is probably well put together too, the guy has a reputation for being a dick but a solid hardware guy.

I bought a Nintendo to JAMMA adapter from Spaeth. He was not a dick, but it took him some time to get back to me.

BTW, if anybody's interested in setting their DK up to play JAMMA boards, which I did with mine so that I could play on a 60-in-1, I could write a tutorial/parts list. It doesn't require that you hack or modify anything and you can swap it back to the standard DK setup within minutes.

Thanks Ken.

Yes, Chris, I wondered about that because I wanted to get a JAMMA board and use it in my DK cab.

I must be a moron because after viewing the manual pdf, I still have no idea how this thing sets up. Does it require an edge- connector setup? Or will it work with the various plugs that go into the side of the pcb, if that makes sense.

I can see the edge connection on this adopter: http://cambridgearcade.dyndns.org/?q=node/68

And I can understand its application rather easy.

Besides that I am not sure I see the other item on this website.

In short, I know the pcb, the places to plug the cords into it on the side, I understand the edge-connector on the top, and I understand the need for the rainbow cable connected both boards together if I am using the edge connector. Besides that, I don't see where the cords are suppose to go on the example you shared, Ken. I just want to buy the right stuff and not break what I already have. :D Ken, if I buy that $75 part you showed, will that be all I need to get this to work or should I get something else.

Thanks Ken! A nice $230 investment.

I miss calculated earlier. I will have to check to see what the final price will be with Cambridge Arcade.

Ken, I also want to clarify whether or not I will need to make sure I have one of these ribbon cables for each board with the set up you are suggesting: http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=NINRAINBOW

You will need the mentioned rainbow cables for either solution :(

Yes, any time you use the edge connector instead or all the various cables you need the 'rainbow' cable.
