This is pretty cool for DK collectors

I never seen these 3 original PVC figures before from 1981-82, you can find all 3 on EBAY, about $60 each now in pack. Kinda steep...but never seen these before.

i picked up the pauline on ebay a couple years back, mine looks a little different, and missing t-mold/coin door...

Am I the only one who thinks that stuff like this is, well, maybe a strong word, ridiculous? Same goes with videogame soundtracks and other merchandise. What am I missing? Am I to stupid to understand?

It's just nostalgic for a lot of folks.  I had a Dragon's Lair lunchbox when I was in first or second grade, if I saw one today I'd probably still think it was cool, just brings back memories I guess.

Exactly, it's not the "40-year old virgin" collection obsession, it's just cool seeing this "original" DK stuff from 1981-82 and connecting that with the time period and the original game. If you feel it's ridiculous then you could also make an argument that playing the game itself as a grown up in 2014 is ridiculous. But, that's not how many feel.

^Okay, that is "ridiculously" cool. I remember seeing the Donkey Kong figurines hanging on the sale rack, but I don't remember seeing that at all. I assume those are more rare?

I thought you'd like that Mark. They don't come up that often MOC and when they do they go for anything between $50 - $100. It took me roughly a year to find that one.

Cheers Mark, that happened in March. Got back into it and was regularly grabbing decent scores and had a really great game which took me into the millions at last...still no kill screen yet though but the 1M made for a happy day :)

*edit* I did record the whole game and parts of it are on my youtube channel, made some silly mistakes but that's the norm these days
