Preferable broadcast settings
« on: May 11, 2019, 06:13:58 pm »
I am just starting to stream from my laptop. I am having problems getting notifications that my stream is dropping frames. I have lowered my resolution from 960 x 540 to 640 x 360 and my framerate from 30 fps to 20 fps. Is it better to lower the fps or the resolution?

While streaming today at 20 fps, I did not receive any messages about losing frames. I don't know how poor the quality looks. I need to use my desktop to stream because it is a much better system with a much better gpu.

No do not lower your frame rate below 30fps, rather lower your audio bitrate much lower because the sound is simple 8 bit do not need 32 bit sound.
Primarily lower your video bitrate untill the quality recorded is acceptable.
Record a bit, playback repeat lower video bitrate untill the video image is still clear but your streaming do not stutter.

Thank you for replying! I have no idea what I am doing with the stream. I do have fiber optic so my upload speed is fine. My problem is, as I see it, my laptop has a poor gpu and that is limiting me. When I used to stream with a different computer I never had these problems.
