Lag problems on mac

Anyone else have lag problems on MAME while streaming?

I used to use MAME OS X which seemed to give me the least lag but switched to sdlmame since it seems to put less load on the computer. The specs on my mac are by far what is needed to run mame properly while streaming but I can't seem to get it to stop it from lagging while playing. When I don't stream I have no problems playing.

I am using OBS. Back when twitch supported FMLE I had the same problems. I can stream other emulators without difficulty. I suspect the problem might be with running MAME on mac but I don't really know for sure.
