It took 6 years for Karma to come but I'm glad I was there to see it!
Twin Galaxy's did not care nor did most of the gamming community when I was screwed. I was basicly laughed at for standing up for myself and proving I was in the right.
So I will give a response given to me when I spoke out defending myself several years ago: my respones to the death of Walters vision "FORMERLY" known as Twin Galaxy's..........."NOT A SINGLE F&@K WAS GIVEN THAT DAY! HA HA HA YOU GOT SCREWED!
This was basicly the attitude given to me by most of the gaming scene
Twin Galaxy's : Born 1981- Died 2013 may you never rest in piece!
The brand name Twin Galaxy's is now dining with beelzebub in the foul stench of the dust bin of gaming hell where it finally belongs. I waited "SIX" years for this day :)

How do you know Twin Galaxies is dead? The gamerlife360 is not Twin Galaxies, and never was Twin Galaxies.

Trust me, Twin Galaxy's is dead. People are feed up with it. Even Gunnineus got sick of it.
You can trace the down fall to when KOK started, the moment Walter sold me out , TG became a disgrace to score keeping and his referee shirt became nothing more than a halloween costume.
Most of the gaming community ( save a handfull) who I thought would back me simply laughed at me the way I got screwed.
Trust me, the rotting brand name of Twin Galaxy's is now TOXIC to any gaming related and I assure you MANY feel the same way.

So do you have any information to say that Twin Galaxies is dead other than the fact that the website is down, and Richie Knucklez is no longer affiliated with the company? Also what exactly do you mean by dead? Do you mean zombie dead or dead dead? You could argue that as long as they have the scoreboard, and some kind of score submission process, even if that means traveling to one of their designated arcades that they are still alive.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Ritchie, I thought his place in NJ was great and he was a great host. The DK I played was super. Crowds stress me out though (agoraphobic)
I did not go to Kong off 1 because I had my own problems a few years back. Only in the last 6 months has anything stabilized let alone got better. (if any)
To be stabbed in the back by people you trust and other life problems compounding it is a feeling I know all two well. I can empathize.
I'm not anti Ritchie ,..............but always will be anti Walter, Billy and Steve and anti TG as far as a name brand goes and who can blame me.
I think it would be better for Ritchie to concentrate on his own thing and forget TG as the name Twin Galaxy's is now toxic. I wish there was a place like Ritchies here, it would give me another place to work, hang out and because I have no family, possibly a place to live :)

Who let this dumb ass back on this site? I'm sure this is his/her first day back on the site and this is what gets posted. You sir/ma'am are one pathetic human being.

Aw, the forum's been dead for a couple weeks.
I say let Tim stir the pot a little!

Everyone's been recovering from all the Kong...

I find the return to be dramatically triumphant. Or at the least, triumphantly dramatic.

Remember Wayne's World?
First started out as a cable access show and it was awesome
And then suddenly it got big and taken over and became Noah's Arcade presents: Wayne's World and it suddenly wasn't cool anymore
And then at then end it returned back to what was originally cool.
Maybe that's what we're seeing here.
-
Remember Wayne's World?
Or maybe you prefer Hawaii? Muka laka hiki! Come on, you wanna lei me? Pass the poi, mahalo.
Or imagine being able to be magically whisked away to Delaware.
Hi. I'm in Delaware.
-
I don't think it's cool to throw around insults and get nasty with Tim. If the moderator wants to ban him again or something that's fine, but insults and negativity just make the forums even more toxic.
-
Wayne's World references make me happy, as does Mary McManus. Welcome back, Tim!

Did tg sell out like when Garth sold out to pepsi and reebok and Wayne with motrin. Lol.

Roy Shildt must be loving this! I have to say theres a conspiracy here...

Yep, this definitely made him splat his gummy substance onto something else.

Technically, Wayne sold out to Nuprin and Pepsi, "The Choice of a New Generation".
I just always wanted to open a door to a bunch of guys who look like they're training for a James Bond movie.

OK, you asked for it

RIP TG, too many mistakes were made.
The only possible resurrection imo at this point would be a very basic forum, and a functioning free scoreboard.
Mary McManus = Tim Sczerby? I'm confused?

Yes, any user name that resembles a female and constantly whines about KOK or 10k is Tim Slurpee.
-
Tg has just been shredded by the best!
-
What's the deal with the scoreboard? The site now seems to redirect so some sloppy version of the 1up site instead of just the 'under construction' image.
-
Tg has just been shredded by the best!
Hmm, what does that mean?
Nobody knows what it means, but its provocative (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuQNt45Cjkc#ws)
-
Tim shredded them! So is deans score of over 1.2 million not recognized yet?
-
Is there a backup of the score database or is everything just lost to time?
-
I don't understand why "TG is gone forever" has become the majority opinion (other than that being more interesting and emotionally-inflammatory than "it's being rebuilt and that will take a couple of months").
The cutoff from Websignia was, from what I understand, a sudden decision. Therefore, the site could not have possibly come back instantly. In fact, it would have been weirder if it HAD come back instantly. They have to redo the entire thing.
I think everybody should chill!
A large number of people want TG back, and the owner invested a good sum of money in it. The owner is also most likely under a self-imposed gag order at this point and that's why we don't hear anything.
TG might disappear forever? Shhhhyeah, and monkeys might fly out of my butt!
(Let's keep that theme going in the thread, BTW, I like that.)

Or is it dead?

A.K.A. Jace Hall paid off Adler too to make this drama (http://newsle.com/article/0/131068738/) go away.

There's a bunch of new information, take a look! <Allen>

Sounds like a public reviewal system of sorts will be in place. Thoughts?
About time is what I think.
-
If this makes hiding video submissions a thing of the past I will be all for it.
-
I read about half of it so far. I am happy to see that there will be no charge for submissions. From what I read here, I see the right kind of thinking. I am eager to see how these conceptions come into reality.
-
OK, maybe I'm a sucker, but I really feel optimistic about this. He really does have the connections that the previous owners did not. I also believe he has a super clear vision for this company, and way to go about accomplishing that vision.
Sounds like it's going to be more of a MARP type of adjudication system. I am completely fine with that if that is the direction they are going.
I also like the fact that they seem to have listened to the communities complaints in certain areas.
So will I agree with everything that the company will do going forward? Probably not, but I have a feeling I am going to agree with the overall direction they are taking the company.

Additionally, more good news is that we have been able to acquire the old original TG Linux servers and have been working hard at recovering all the lost data and restoring it to our new system.
Forum posts, articles and even user accounts are being restored and converted to the new system. The work is meticulous and challenging, but we believe that all those historic forum posts and article contributions are important and should be restored, accessible and properly preserved.
We anticipate it being less than 30 days before we can bring the new website system online with all this restored data, along with a completely searchable and viewable version of the latest Twin Galaxies International Score Database.
Mind blown.
This is a significant technical challenge and a ton of work. For security reasons they are going to have to reset passwords for all user accounts. I'm wondering about the logistics of previous TG forums users regaining access to their accounts and their accounts only, while preventing account highjacking by shady third parties in the meantime.

I wonder if they'll bring back the ancient articles. I'm talking the <Mruczek> -era articles.
I remember reading Robert's report on Abdner's Ms. Pac Man world record back in 2005, long before I started playing any of these games seriously, and it was pretty influential. I'd love to read it again.
I remember sharing that with a couple of my friends and saying "oh my god, check this out, this is so awesome, look how he's breaking down a Ms. Pac Man game screen by screen! I didn't know you could get that advanced about this stuff! What weirdos!"
(Meanwhile, fast forward eight years and I'm one of the biggest game-dissecting nerdlingers of them all. ;D )
Looking forward to the old forums, the old-time articles, free submissions... wow, please let this be true... BibleThump

i would love to have robert come to the forums and discuss anything really. his stories and write-ups are very interesting even if its about a title ive never played. i remember reading some of his wiebe/mitchell write-up about their scores, level averages, etc. along with his thoughts on the max dk score humanly possible. iirc he put the max at about 1.25m which is spot on. this was years and years ago before anyone had even crossed the 1.1m mark. love it
-
I'm willing to give it another go and support it fully. Jace and that team actually seem to be genuinely into TG so i'm hopeful for the future. BibleThump
There is a lot of ground to recover from tho due to the last several years but it looks like submissions will be free (This is huge) and that everything is going to be public which is something i also support immensely. I think people "hiding" a submission or a WR claim isnt the spirit of where things should be in 2014.
Here's to hope! Kreygasm

good stuff as usual, chris. im definitely hoping for the best. even mention of refunds? i love it. i dont think anyone was ever completely down with paying for submissions. people either flat out hated it or just accepted it. im pretty certain 0 people actually felt good about the idea... other than the refs id imagine lol <YSG> <YSG> <YSG>
-
My guess is they're going to have to get everyone there money back so they can get back guiness world record backing. That's a lot of back for one sentence. Anyways I'm liking what I'm seeing.
-
Yeah I believe it was the charging for submissions that was the proverbial "final straw" with Guinness so "fixing" that will go a long way. Would be great to have them as a source again for it.

I feel the same way. <Mruczek> was a great asset to TG. When I first found TG in 2002, Robert was the main person that responded to my questions and was willing to work with me to get a record track set up for a modern console game that I was playing. For the next few years that I participated at TG, he verified records as chief referee, helped set up rules/tracks, responded to people on the forums, wrote great articles, set up bounties, and did all kinds of behind the scenes work. He was often the voice of reason when things got crazy. When he resigned at the end of 2006, I was pretty upset and wondered if TG was headed down the wrong path. If things were bad enough for someone as dedicated as Robert to resign, something had to be amiss.
Sadly, it was true. I remained optimistic, but I was not privy to TG's internal affairs and didn't realize just how dysfunctional the organization was. I was on my way out of gaming when the Jourdan/Richie era started, but what I had seen of their plan for TG was not encouraging. I was not surprised at all after the KO3 when I heard that TG was done.
Even though I don't play competitively any more, I'm cautiously optimistic about TG under Jace. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
-
Having Robert back would be awesome in my eyes. He really seemed to be more fair then a lot of others made him out to be.
