Hey Eric, one thing I was thinking might be cool is if I made a webpage form in PHP where people would just fill in the fields with their info, click submit, and then it emails the form to you.
I was also going to set up the same thing for score submissions.
It seems like this would make the process easier for everybody. (And since all the fields would be pre-defined, it would be impossible to screw up or leave something out. :) )
What do you think? Should I bother with that? It's not a big job, probably an hour or so. Just seems like it would be worth it.
-
Chris, that is an excellent idea, I say go for it! Thanks man, great suggestion!
John and I were thinking about eventually doing a web site for this, but that is in the future 8)

I'm in. ;)

I'm in. ;)
As am I.

Very awesome idea to have an automatic send in for your scores for the Wildcards! I wish I thought of that idea! :-). It would save alot of time rather than always bringing up the dkwildcardrematch email all the time and then just sending the scores in that way!
-
If you haven't registered yet, you might want to hold off for the moment. I have finished the first draft of registration form/score submission web pages. I sent it to Eric and we'll see what he thinks, but it could be up and running within the next 48 hours if he likes it.

Interesting choice of anti-spambot security question.
According to the Grateful Dead song "Scarlet Begonias" (From the Mars Hotel, 1974):
"The sky was yellow and the sun was blue"
Good thing I'm already registered. I'd hate to screw up on that one. :)

Serious question: If my internet goes down in the middle of the qualifier does the score get automatically disqualified? The reason I ask is my internet actually went down during one of my streams (I think when I was using jtv).
If I record the game on my camcorder and restream the recording from my camcorder would that be acceptable? You could verify that the first few boards play the same so that it wasn't a pre-recording. Just a thought.
-
Multi-part streams have been accepted before.
Ben's big game last time was accepted even though the stream broke during the pie factory on Level 4. He restarted the stream when he completed the board. (I know because I examined that stream for cheating ;D )
-
What is the up to date standing of the top 8 online qualifiers right now? Is there a thread with that in it, that should be posted and update pretty regularly right now since we're getting so close.
-
I keep the top 8 updated in the tournament/rules thread here: https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=466.0 (https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=466.0)
KO 3 WC Top 8 Qualifiers:
1. Phil Tudose: 1,051,600
2. Jon Mckinnell: 1,019,800
3. Ben Falls: 1,012,700
4. Eric Tessler: 966,000
5. Corey Chambers: 964,500
6. David McCrary: 934,000
7. Chris Psaros: 893,100
8. Robbie Lakeman: 851,300
NOTE: Jeff Wolfe recently submitted a score that will make it into the TG top 12 (score will be TG-verified shortly).
NOTE: This list does not take into account who is going to the KO 3. After the last qualifier event once we know who is going we will publish the final list.
-
Keep in mind that the top 3 on that list are just a formality now.
Phil and Jon are definitely not going to KO3 at this point, and Ben will not be taking his spot because he'll be in the Satan's Hollow-off.
Eric is on top!
In fact, it might be useful to extend the list a few names down, since those scores are the actual targets.
The "real" list would be:
1. Eric Tessler: 966,000
2. Corey Chambers: 964,500
3. David McCrary: 934,000
4. Chris Psaros: 893,100
5. Robbie Lakeman: 851,300
6. Daniel Dock: 839,300
Timothy Sczerby: 725,000 (not going)
7. Ethan Daniels: 690,900
8. Daniel Desjardins: 688,600
And after that:
Mike Groesbeck: 685,700 (top 12)
Hans Kollinger: 685,600
Shawn Robinson: 680,300
Jeff Harrist: 678,200

How do I join?

Go here and put in your info: https://donkeykongforum.net/tournaments/registration.php (https://donkeykongforum.net/tournaments/registration.php)
-
I have registered 2 times on the online registration for WC signup but I havent been added to the list.. am I doing something wrong? I dont want there to be any confusion so that I cannot play or am uneligable for bounties.
-
Shane and Tom - please use the online registration form again, I will keep a look out for your registrations (as of right now I don't see them).
-
Okay Shane you are registered! 8)
-
Hmm, if the form is intermittently not-working, that's disturbing.
Anybody else, let me know if your name isn't coming up (and immediately via DKF PM if the score submission form isn't working during the tournament).
The last thing we need is forms with moods...

Just change the spam-bot question to "Can you hold in the lion?"
-
I'm good now, but ChrisP, I used the form immediately after you posted it, and after 2 subsequent list updates I still was not on the list. I submitted the form again yesterday afternoon and now I'm listed. Both times I received the confirmation screen.
Can you set the form to also cc a confirmation to the email address the user inputs?
-
Setting it up to do that will be harder to do than it should be (because the code is dumb), but it's starting to sound like it might be a good idea.
Blah, there's no reason why the form should be working sometimes but not every time!
But yes, it's hard to know for sure whether it got to Eric and John, because they have to manually update the list, so it would be good to have an extra layer of verification. (Plus, if it gets CCed, everybody would have a record of what they submitted and that's always nice.)
I'll see if I can do it.
-
As it turns out, the missing registrations were due to the way Gmail mashes emails together into "conversations" when the subject and sender are the same. They got grouped together and Eric/John missed them. I patched the code so that won't happen anymore (I think).
I also set it up to send out a confirmation email when you register or submit a score. So enter whichever email address you want the confirmation sent.
Please continue to report bugs...
-
Score-submission form will be getting the shit test soon!
Please keep a close watch during these early hours and *PM ME IMMEDIATELY* if it doesn't work or you don't see your score in the list.
I really don't wanna be the guy who screwed up the whole tourney. ;D
-
Sent one in as a test on your form. Chris, was it made clear to use this form as submission? Because, I had to search thru the thread for it, it should be posted on a main thread or on the main page as the way to submit. Not sure if everyone knows about it. Anyway, hope to get some more games in tomorrow, but this is my one game tonight.
-
I agree, actually. A link to the submission form should be somewhere very prominent for the whole weekend, like there right below the clock. But that's not my call. ;)
-
1.5 hours left, keep those scores coming! ;D
-
The mystery player decided to play some DK tonight before the tourney ends!
