- Contestants may enlist the help of anyone except Eric Tessler and John Salter to setup their stream.
- Contestant’s stream quality must be sharp enough to read the level and score at a glance (as well as the rest of the game play).  If there is ANY question of score and level due to bad quality stream, that submission will be rejected, instantly, with no exceptions. We suggest that you test your streams and check them from time to time to make sure they are working correctly.
- Streams which are partial, glitchy, edited or manipulated in any way will be rejected.
- Streams must be available for review on the contestants registered twitch.tv channel.  If for ANY reason the stream is not available for review on the contestant’s registered twitch.tv channel, the submission will be rejected.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Game Submissions
- Contestant is solely responsible for submitting their own scores.
- DK arcade or DK MAME (US set 1) can both be used for score submissions (must use TG settings of 3 lives and a bonus life at 7000 points).
- Score submissions can be for any non-zero score.

   * Final game score
   * What time the stream was recorded
   * URL to actual stream recording on twitch.tv
- Bounties
   * Contestant is solely responsible for specifying which bounty they want to claim when they submit a score.
   * A contestant can only be paid for a maximum of 1 bounty for any one contest.
   * If a submitted game qualifies for more than 1 bounty, the contestant is solely responsible for specifying which bounty they are claiming and they can only claim a single bounty (and the refs will consider only the specified bounty for the score submission). For example, if I have a game where I am the first to a million points and a kill screen, I claim the million point bounty and the kill screen bounty remains open for other contestants to claim.
   * If a contestant tries to claim a bounty however is not awarded that bounty for some reason (i.e., they were incorrect about the bounty or another contestant's score submission invalidates their bounty claim), the contestant may try to claim another bounty on one of their next score submissions.
   * Bounties are considered in the order in which the score submissions are received.
   * Please remember that the bounty system was introduced for fun and to spread around some extra money to the contestants. Any disputes over the bounties will be settled accordingly by Eric/John.
- If any player is at Eric's or John’s house on the day of the contest, they may use our DK arcade machine for the tournament and we will act as a referee (as such, they do not need to submit their score via email, but the game will still be broadcasted on twitch.tv for everyone to see).
- Eric and John will be validating all scores and reserve the right to reject any score for any reason.
- Games started before the official contest start time (no matter how close to the official contest start time) will not be eligible.
- Games started after the official contest end time (no matter how close to the official contest end time) will not be eligible.
- Last game can be started any time before the official contest end time (no matter how close to the official contest end time).
- Scores can be submitted up until 4 hours past the official contest end time.

Prize Payouts
- Prize money will be issued in the exact amount stated, ONLY to the registered contestant.
- Prize money will be sent via PayPal or sent via U.S. post in the form of a registered money order, or check ONLY to the registered contestant.
- If the contestant rejects the prize acceptance guidelines, listed above, or chooses not to accept the prize, that money will be added to the next contest purse.
- Once a contestant wins prize money in a tournament (bounties are not included), they cannot win any more prize money for the following 2 tournaments (after the next 2 tournaments, that player will once again be allowed to win some prize money). This will allow different people to have a chance at winning some prize money.
   - The following players cannot win prize money for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in this tournament: Dean Saglio, Phil Tudose, Jeff Wolfe

Clarifications
- Kill screen: In order to qualify for a kill screen on 22-1, we must be able to see the jump man death that is caused by the kill screen itself (dying any other way will not count).

Closing Remarks
- Please remember, at the end of the day, this is for fun and to keep the community together.  Anyone who does not follow the rules, cheats, etc, will be removed from the contest, and possibly banded from all future contests.
- These guidelines can be changed at any time because Eric and John are in charge and are on a total power trip.
- Get practicing and good luck to all contestants

I'll be trying again if I can get that day off work!  I'm hoping I can get it off!  :-).  I enjoyed playing in the last one for fun!  :-).  I know I haven't ever made it passed like level 9 or anything like that but I will play for fun again!  I enjoyed seeing my name on the one video with all the other top DK players scores!  :-).  That was so cool to see!  I hope they have something like that again!  :-).  Maybe I can win the mystery bounty prize this time and tell all my friends I won something in an online DK tournament!  :-).  That would be so cool! :-)

I think that Dan's bounty refers to someone who has never got one million points in their life. Is this correct Dan?
Title: Re: Donkey Kong Online Open: Kong Off 3 Wild Card Qualifier #2

Yeah I am waiting for Dan to verify which way it is :)
Title: Re: Donkey Kong Online Open: Kong Off 3 Wild Card Qualifier #2

Yes. It's open to anyone who has not gotten 1 Million points already. :D
Tell you what if its not to much Eric if someone HAS gotten 1 million already then if they get 1.1 Million the bounty is on the table.
I don't want to make this too complicated so whatever you prefer.

Dan

Post by: tessler1134 on July 17, 2013, 06:59:26 pm
Dan - are you talking about a single bounty of two bounties? Example of the 2 bounties:
1. Someone who has not gotten 1 million points but actually does it during the contest (I assume also has never gotten a million points at any time in the past)
2. Someone who reaches 1.1 million

Whatever is cool with me, let me know and I will update the bounties.

Just make it so whoever has never gotten 1 million is eligible if they hit that milestone for the first time and make it if they have gotten 1 million, they have to hit 1.1 for the bounty.  It's like a handicap system to include everyone.
Title: Re: Donkey Kong Online Open: Kong Off 3 Wild Card Qualifier #2
Post by: danman123456 on July 17, 2013, 08:33:35 pm
Yes that was my thinking Robbie. So its open for everyone (Except previous winners so Dean is out ;)

I'll do it this way Eric and have 2 bounties - First one claimed is $50 and 2nd one claimed is $25 (You can only claim one bounty).

1. If you have NEVER scored a million and get 1 Million.
2. If you have scored a million and get 1.1 Million.

Thanks again,
Dan

This top 8 thing is going rather well for me so far...

1. Phil Tudose: 1,051,600 <-- not going to KO3
2. Jeff Wolfe: 997,800
3. Corey Chambers: 964,500 <-- POSSIBLY not going to KO3
4. Ben Falls: 869,100 <-- not planning to take the wildcard spot
5. Robbie Lakeman: 851,300 <-- moved to main lineup
6. Jon Mckinnell: 753,600 <-- "very unlikely" to be going to KO3
7. Chris Psaros: 696,800  :D  :D  :D
8. Daniel Desjardins: 688,600

Of course, there are still way too many people for me to fear (not necessarily listed in order of fear):

- Dave McCrary (already locked in if he gets knocked out of the main lineup)
- Ross Benziger (will crush everybody's testicles the moment he decides to)
- Daniel Dock (a mil any day now)
- Jeff Harrist (fearless leader)
- Ethan Daniels (uh oh)
- Eric Tessler (the reigning WC champ)
- Daniel Desjardins (going big big big lately)
- Chris Icenhour (got that fresh kill screen confidence)
- Brian Allen (wht da)
- Mitchell Elliott (if he can get off the bottom girder)

Todd Lalonde is in traction, Johnathan McCourt doesn't play these, and I don't think Svavar or Christian are coming (?).

And this isn't even considering all these other George Riley-type guys who are poised to jump out of nowhere with a big game...

Chipotle is actually pretty famous for being totally non-sketchy in terms of ingredients.

McDonalds is what you want to avoid. Their meat consists of various horrific fillers soaked in ammonia.

That's what they say at least. Who the f knows what the truth is about anything anymore.

I was talking about the street burritos that are sold on Saturday nights in downtown Denver.

It's literally an old woman walking around with burritos in a warmer/cooler thingy.

Wiebe and Andrew Laidlaw both ate them and survived as well.

After 100 beers they tasted great.

Yeah, I'm a little confused on the time, I know the first one was an all day Saturday event that started at 9PM Friday night, but went into Sunday because of a streaming error.

Is this #2 intended to start 9PM Saturday night and be an all day Sunday event? That's actually better for me, but just making sure that was the intention.

The rules state that one must us DK Mame or DK Arcade. Is a multi-pcb allowed as long as it is emulating US Set 1?

And are you allowing any Mame program and not just Wolfmame?

Cool, thanks.

Just a friendly reminder about this weekend. If you want to play in the tournament this weekend please make sure you register and follow the rules set forth on this thread.

As always, if you are also looking to submit your scores to any of the High Score Lists please refer to the rules set forth in the List Submission Rules. These rules do not apply to the tournament but would apply to any scores that one wishes to have submitted to one of the High Score Lists.

Generally if you stick to the TKG-4 Arcade with US Set 1 roms, a JAMMA multi-pcb emulating US Set 1, or any version of Wolfmame, then you would be good across the board.

And although inp and wlf files are not required for this tournament they would help you prove your score in case your stream went bad. It is always a good idea to gather as much evidence for your scores. According to the High Score List rules, the requirement of inp and wlf files is normative. It is generally a good idea to record your inputs, although not required for this tournament.

Thank you! :D

Well  with this Time change for the 3time  for each round .. Has costed me big time.
Lets stick with a Time and Day start please..  I do not understand the Day and Time Change .
I was forced to work Saturday.     So I was going to play from 9pm to Midnight  Friday Night.
But with it Starting on a Saturday Night at 9PM  This is not going to happen..  I have a harder day at work Sunday then Saturday   ...  So I will need my sleep .. Will not get any game play in.

You guys should think about the guys that work on the Weekends...  Again this is unfair!

Kong Off Is looking very Unlikely Guys    .. No Yellow Cab for this guy.

Brian, there will be 60+ people playing. We all have constraints. Just do the best of your ability so these constraints won't affect you too much. We can't accomodate everyone's schedule, unfortunately.

The other 2 rounds    Started   at 9pm  West coast Time Friday Night.
This is not a Joke I'm dead Serious
I understand Twitch had problem last round .. And times had to be pushed back because of that.

I just do not understand why the change this time around.

No I have not been keeping track of everything ..  I just signed up this  last week.   That's another thing I do not understand why we have to sign up for each round.

Looks like no Top 8 for me ..

I was looking forward to do this .  OH WELL

Thanks Vincent for the post.

Brian you are correct, this tournament starts on Saturday night instead of the previous 2 tournament which started on Friday night...this was an error John and I had made, but since it has been posted this way for the last month, it is unfair to change it now (sorry for the mix up). Also since it has been posted this way to start on Saturday for the last month, everyone should have had plenty of time to plan for it. However, all future tournaments will start on Friday night and will remain that way unless something forces us to change it (i.e., twitch being down).

Again, sorry for the confusion.

BTW Brian, there is still one more contest coming around October or so, you still have plenty of time to practice and qualify!

Vincent - where is your registration!  8)

For the record, I personally love the Saturday night start.

So this is great for one person at least! Actually two, according to Dave.

Move that counter to three since I work Saturdays.

Move that to four since I work alternate Saturdays.

Don't worry, I'll have to play on MAME if I compete.  My control panel is still out for repair.  My keyboard skills are as good as your math skills.

Over/under on how many players are going to be playing on Friday night/Saturday because they haven't read any of this, or the date given in the announcement?

I'm gonna say 4, and take the over.

I have to confess, I almost screwed it up myself.

As for Brian, I guess we need John and Eric to invent a new day that occurs neither on a weekday (bad for most) or a weekend (bad for Brian). Get on that, guys.

Brian, I understand it sucks for you, but no time is going to be good for everybody when there's 60+ people involved. If this had been held one week later, or earlier, I wouldn't have been able to play at all. But there'd be nothing for anybody to do about it if it HAD been on one of those weekends, except for me to suck it up and say "tough shit." The thing doesn't revolve around me...

ATTENTION ALL DONKEY KONG ONLINE TOURNAMENT PLAYERS

After careful consideration between myself and John Salter, we have decided to extend this tournament to 48 hours, starting this Friday 8/16 9 PM pacific to Sunday 8/18 9 PM pacific. We are doing this for the following reasons:
- To give everyone a chance to play, and to give plenty of opportunities to submit scores for KO 3 wildcard qualification and prizes.
- The last tournament was extended due to problems with twitch, so we think it makes sense to extend that to the other tournaments as well (from now on all of our tournaments will be 48 hours long).
- Brian Allen and others can now participate  ;)
- We like this idea  ::)
- Vincent Lemay and Allan Staal like weight lifting.  ;D

EVERYONE: please spread the word so everyone else is aware, I will also be posting this on facebook.

Thanks and good luck to all, go kick some ass!!!!!

Just sent in my registration. Sorry, Chris, I guess I lied. You should worry about me.  ;D

Mitch, this just means that I'll have to come up with some new DK challenge between now and tomorrow night. It will distract you all weekend. ;D

I would like to add a last minute bounty if that is at all possible. Since I manage the Donkey Kong High Score Lists I like to encourage new score submissions. I also want to support newer players and often they don't have the chance to win anything. So... I offer $25 to the person who improves their personal best the most in terms of points. This must be submitable to the High Score List according to the rules in the List Submission Rules. If you have any questions please let me know. This would only apply to a player who presently has a score on the High Score List as of midnight August 16th, last night. Upon the completion of the Tournament I will update scores and the person with the most improved score will get the $25.

P.S. I have a personal offer of $50 to Shane Mosher if he gets a killscreen this weekend! Sorry, this does not extend to anyone else.

i noticed that jeff willms hasnt signed up. he doesnt come on the forums often so he probably has no idea the tournament is even taking place. he usually streams mario hacks late on the weekends so if someone sees him streaming be sure to tell him to go ahead and sign up. even though the tournament is starting at 9pm pst tonight, eric and john are still accepting registrations up until tmrw at 9pm pst for those that didnt know about the tournament extension...

NOTE ON FREQUENCY OF SCORE SUBMISSIONS

Since this is now a 48 hour tournament, we are asking all players to please batch their score submissions (unless of course you get a really high score for yourself or new PB). In other words, if you are planning on playing many games, please do not submit every single higher score that you get (for some players this can be 5-10 score submissions). We have to review every single score submission so it takes a lot of time, especially now that we have almost 70 registered players.  8)

THANK YOU!

PS: We have replied to every single registration email and stated the new tournament 48 hour extension.

If at all possible, if you could qualify my bounty. There are lots of pb's that are unofficial. I will be basing the increase based upon the DK HSL. And there are also people playing in this tournament that are not yet on the HSL who will not be eligible.
