Title: A basketball...
Post by: mikegmi2 on May 23, 2013, 11:09:17 am
From the KoK movie, according to his wife, Steve Wiebe used to be "a basketball".

"I have said from the day I met Steve, that his talent is in his hands, he pitched, he was a basketball..."

Does his ability to transform into inanimate objects somehow give him an unfair advantage when playing DK? Perhaps this was something the TG people at the time were investigating...more so than the Roy Shildt board, Steve's videos, or anything else.

I'm ok with this, but others may think it's unfair.  Discuss...

Being perfectly round offers no advantage in DK.  If anything it's a hindrance because it makes proper gripping of the joystick near impossible.

I once saw Wiebe turn into a burrito and then eat himself.  After finishing his meal - of himself - he said, and I quote, "I was very filling, but I could have been more sour creamy."

No, like a basketball, he bounced from one thing to another until he found his goal.  8)

I figured you were misquoting or out of your mind, but I checked, and that is actually what she says.  6min mark

Just after the 8:20 mark, during the new game animation, did they replace "dkstomp" with the sound of a bouncing basketball on a hardwood floor?

Haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one to catch this. I asked Billy if he was a basketball but he was like I'm not god I don't have all the answers.

I noticed this the first time I watched KoK.  Steve, indeed, was a basketball.  He is likely a morph, as is Billy Mitchell, whose mullet is also the result of advanced morphing.

Holy shit, he was a basketball! LOL!

I love the "he used to bang his head 4/4 time on the back of the seat" thing, because I used to do that also. Well, I sort of still do that...

(Let's be honest, many of us DK players are at least somewhat, ahem, "on the spectrum", so to speak.)

Scott: that sounds to me like the Double Donkey Kong dkstomp (http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?action=url&page=prod/ddk/sounds.html). Which would make sense, since Steve had a DDK board, and that bit of audio may have been taken from a video where he was playing on that board.

Must have been quite the first date.

"I have said from the day I met Steve, that his talent is in his hands"

Wow. That DDK run/jump sound just about makes me want to gouge out my ears.
