Yeah, just a warning for people.  Mozilla Firefox sucks, and so does Internet Explorer.  Google Chrome is the way to go if you want to work the site.  I couldn't register with Internet Explorer, but I could nominate games.  Very unusual.

Internet explorer would let me sign up, but wouldn't let me register for the tournament.   Firefox wouldn't let me sign in.  Google crome works great though.  So everything is fine now.  8)

I think it's possible that you were registered in a tourney before and just got confused.  I use firefox primarily and worked without a thought.

Time for game nominations has been extended by a week. Hopefully this will give us more nominations (and give me more time to check for compatibility issues with WolfMAME 0.183). Keep spreading the word!

I'm in.

How do the teams get picked?  Do the "captains" pick from the list of registered users?

Is there any way I can ask you not to pick me on your side?  I want to be a winner for the first time in my life :)

QUESTION!

Why MAME 183?

It's not a problem, and I think that all of us SHOULD be on the same MAME to minimize headaches, but usually in tourneys we use the most recent MAME, whereas this one is from February 2017. Just curious why that particular version was chosen.

A few notes and answers to questions I've already seen:

First: PANG PANG CAR HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE VOTING LIST. For lewdness. Those who voted for it please submit new votes.

1) Voting is open until the player draft starts, which right now is January 27th-ish. We are still working to schedule a time that works for everyone involved in the draft.
2) You can re-vote. Just submit a new, full vote and I'll delete the old one. Please try to keep this to a minimum though.
3) Please only vote for 3 games per time period.
4) Please be registered before you vote. If I don't recognize you or you're not on the list, I will eventually delete your vote.
5) In the case of tied votes I will choose the game that is the more unique of the tied votes and/or hasn't been in a tournament before.
6) If we end up with too many similar games (Bubble Bobble, Raiden, etc.) I will replace one with the next highest vote.

2) Player registration (https://www.cagtournaments.com/) ends tonight at midnight PST, so you have about 19 1/2 hours to sign up!

3) Game voting (https://goo.gl/forms/CO3O2GRlkpurQ2eG2) will end when the player draft starts. Please get your votes/re-votes in ASAP.

4) Please use the time between now and the start of the tournament to familiarize yourself with WolfMAME 0.183 (https://github.com/mahlemiut/wolfmame/releases/tag/wolf183), the Yolympics Discord server (https://discord.gg/YhAzb8S), and even your potential captains and games.

You see a lot of misdirection leading up to the draft by players in order to better position themselves to be selected by a big market club.  It's a lot of posturing and jostling among the players.  I generally don't put a lot of stock in it as a former GM.

Don't let it turn you off from participating.  It mainly just makes it more difficult on the captains but one thing to keep in mind is no matter what folks say prior to the competition, this a prideful lot, once competition gets going all the pre-draft talk of not spending time on the tourney evaporates like Allen's DK lives counter.

Oh to be sure, I am not playing as much this year.  I just have things that will take away my time this time around.  But that doesn't mean I can't participate this year.  But yeah, I will not be getting 23rd like last year.  Probably more like 35th or so. :)  Still a deal since I was drafted 43rd. :)

The tournament officially starts in 4 1/2 hours! A few reminders before we kick off:

-Please double-check the Games/Rules. Some romsets and rules have shifted since the announcement of the game list.
-Even if you've been playing/practicing already, only games started/scores achieved after the start of the tourney are eligible for submission.
-Make sure you're using WolfMAME 0.183 for MAME submissions. Wolf. MAME. Not regular MAME. And double-check that your INPs are being recorded with the correct settings.
-This tournament is about fun and friendly competition, but don't forget to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

Good luck to all the players and teams (but mostly my team)!

WHO PICS THESE TEAMS FTT COME OF IT IM GONE

Allen, to be fair, Exed Exes actually did a fantastic job picking teams.  If you minus the captain's scores from the team scores it becomes easily apparent that Exed Exes actually did a fantastic job picking teams.

Fast Fires 1525-283=1242
Mekanix 1507-166=1341
Camel Toe Silhouettes 1416-277=1139
Verizontal 3D 1363-84=1279

When you minus the point total for Captains our team actually comes out second.  So don't blame his picking ability, because you'd be completely wrong.

We're two weeks in! The Fast Fires are currently leading the field by 106 points. V3D and CTS are 3rd/4th, but they still have some empty slots in their game submissions. And some of the strongest players in the field have yet to submit a single score, so there could be a shake-up brewing! BBH is leading the individual standings, but Zerst is hot on his heels. Will Toobin' be the deciding game?!

Keep grinding, keep submitting, and good luck!

One week left in the contest! Make sure you get scores in by the deadline...it's a hard cutoff! https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20190310T2359&p0=137&msg=End+of+Yolympics+2019&font=serif

TFF have a strong lead, but not completely unassailable. 2nd-4th are anyone's game.

Also, there are number of scores on all teams that have the potential to be DQ'd for various issues: INP playback problems, missing evidence, etc. The team captains should have alerted their respective teams by now...if you haven't heard from the lately, let me know! Bad scores will be DQ'd Wednesday night.

Yolympics 2019 is officially over! I'd like to thank all the players for their outstanding efforts throughout the tournament. We had 65 of the 72 registered players submit scores!

Congratulations to The Fast Fires for winning the tournament, with a final score of 1,731! Mekanix took an early lead but The Fast Fires could not be stopped. And congrats to LordBBH, who took home the individual title with 406 points! Zerst and Todayisforgotten made strong runs at 1st, but BBH is BBH. Several new players put in strong performances, like Pearl and JasonV91, so kudos to all of them as well.

I'd also like to give some special thanks to all the people that made the organization and execution of this tournament possible:

johnbart - Created an amazing tourney site, and there would have been no tourney without it.
Barra, Todayisforgotten, DaLar, ExedExes - Your amazing captains who all drafted very well and helped me manage all the information flow.
ILLSeaBass - Set up RSS/Recent Scores feed in the Discord server which was very useful, especially for me as I was tracking the flow of submissions.
Wolf (Just_Wolfman/Just_Markus/whatever) - The founder and godfather of these tournaments. Helped me verify a ton of scores.

Apologies to anyone I may have missed who helped me during the tourney.

Even though the tournament is over, please keep an eye on the Yolympics Discord. BackdoorFred and CaptainJivePants will be hosting an awards show in the next week or so...don't miss it!

Wolf is also hosting a couple of upcoming tournaments so make sure you sign up for those!

Congrats and thanks again to all the players!

Great tournament all.  Thanks to JohnBart, Jry, Wolf and all others who made it possible.  Also, thanks to our team captain Barra for keeping everyone motivated and Jry for running our analytics dept.  Our discord was a lot of fun and that's a testament to all the players who were not only highly skilled but fun af to hang out with.

On a personal note, was happy to finally 1cc 1942 in one of these things as that was a goal of mine last time it made an appearance.  I also need to get much better at Keyboard Kong, way too unsure of myself on the lenovo control panel.   <Billy>

Some new to me games I really enjoyed, Espgaluda, AvP and.....Espgaluda.

Some new to me games I've never played before and I did not really enjoy.....everything else, GnG, ST2, MSX, Raiden 2, DDP, Truxton, BB.....you get the idea.

Thank you, jry and everyone, for this tournament, it was a fun experience! I went in this with virtually no experience in CAGing other than DK, so I was able to discover new games, new achievements, new frustrations, new friends, and new communities. A new appreciation for shmups like DDP and Espgaluda was formed as well, so I might continue exploring those sometime.

And thank you, Barra, for drafting me to the winning team! :)
