next up is Tim Sczerby. <Tim>
Vince has declined. Mike Groesbeck added.Just a thought, but if another person declines, you might as well just say the top 12 scores will get a dedicated machine so you won't be redundant.
Hey Jeff, and the rest of the DK community.
Thekongoff.com is still a work in progress, as I was asking for player updates Jeff informed me that only 5 top 12 players have officially signed up. (Was Sean from Florida one of the 5?) ( I really do not want to go live with the site until the player profiles are exciting and a plenty.) I saw that Estel Goffinett just put up a million plus game. Give me a call when you can Jeff, Feeling a tad bummed that the website release was being delayed by contestant enthusiasm, I feel it's time to toss out this idea. If the usual players do not confirm with say a few weeks, We should offer up their spots to players such as Andrew Barrow, Estel Goffinett, Ken House and other extremely active Donkey Kong Players. The Australian Kong off at The Netherworld arcade allowed anyone to participate. It made it very interesting. If our champions Hank Chien, Dean Saglio, Vincent Lemay Jeff Wilms, Steve Wiltshire Mark Keil and all the other regulars cannot commit by a fair cut off date lets throw a monkey wrench in and give the event to the players who most appreciate it. Just an idea. If your name was not mentioned do not feel slighted. this post was fueled by emotion and straight off the top of my head. Opinions? Jeff, please give me a call after this post settles in a bit. Thanks guys

I like this idea as well. I'd be willing to throw down $20 to get my score up there with the greats. Even if it's just 200k. :)Hey Jeff, and the rest of the DK community.

Or have a couple cabs open for open players. $20 per quarter drop to fund the prize pool and event.
Then people like me who have big egos with nothing to back it up yet can throw money down and compete.
I have one of the biggest NYC digital media companies working on spreading the word OUTSIDE of our local community. I would love to bring a whole new breed of competitors to the fold. It is very disconcerting hearing over and over again how the Kong Off should be retired and we should focus on a new game. Imagine a whole new wave of players coming in to jump start the Renaissance., This event has literally no $ behind it. Donations are extremely welcomed richie@richieknucklez.com Putting an epic event together {having always going out of pocket} has left me in an extreme stress situation. I'm sorry if I am not coming across as happy as I used to be. ANYBODY feel free to contact me by text at 908.797.7901. I need help , $ and psychological evaluation. lol
How much money are we talking here?

$20 per quarter drop????? Are you guys insane? A 3 day pass to get in to the Arcade Expo is already $120, which includes "freeplay on all 1,100 machines". Are the wildcard machines not included in this?
I could see maybe $20, max, to get on the rotation list for the wildcard machines.
Oh Dan, I actually did say 20 per drop but I don’t know what these things cost. I feel like Rain Man.
put me in coach
But after being punished last year for being ranked 9th in the world, knuckelz' helter-skelter, bush-league run operation can get stuffed.

Congratulations to all players who have confirmed for the event as the top seeds who will have dedicated machines for competition! It looks like there will be ten players (including Billy and Steve) who are million point players and the other two players are not far behind so this will certainly be a high quality exciting and competitive competition for sure! It's incredible that our community now has enough depth that such a strong group can be assembled despite many players being unable to attend. Personally I think it's great that it has worked out in such a way that Eric Tessler has earned a dedicated machine for this event since he has been a huge contributor to the longevity of this hobby and community.
Once again I want to thank Richie for the invitation and JC for giving me some flexibility to try to plan for this trip. Unfortunately I was just not able to make it happen this time and will be unlikely to attend. But it looks like it's going to be a great event. There will certainly be favorites and underdogs but with the current match style format for the event finals no results are guaranteed and anything can happen on competition day! So it will be great fun to watch how things unfold from home if such an option to watch is made available.
If for some reason something changes for me at the last minute and I am able to attend after all, I'm happy to try to play my way in as a wild card if that option exists for this event and/or just try to provide technical help or commentary for the event. It's unlikely at this point but you never know.
As always, I have the usual questions about event setup -- Is there a website which provides precise details about the event? Will regular updates about the event be posted somewhere? (This forum perhaps?) Will viewers have access to a live electronic scoreboard? (Link?) Will event and/or gameplay live streaming be provided? (Links?)
Thanks again to all of the folks who have been working so hard to organize, prepare, setup, run and breakdown the event. Here's hoping that even more live and online events will follow!
There is no sign up but will be a registration. Any wildcard folks looking to compete and want me to add them to the kongoff.net site just respond to me with the questions or bio. Richie is swamped right now moving his arcade but I believe it's looking like $20 to play in the WC division. Maybe $20 per day but certainly not per quarter :)Yep, register me Dan. I want to participate in the wildcard section of the event. I already created a bio, and so I don't know if that's what you are talking about.
Hoping to get a crack at one of those wild card machines. I'll be at the event on Saturday. Is there a sign up sheet or something? :)
What time should we arrive for day 1? The expo opens at 2:30, but the kong off schedule says 12:00. Are they letting kong off people in early, or should we just show up at 2:30?
