Title: Has it been 10 years already
Post by: LMDAVE on October 10, 2017, 01:02:47 pm
So around this time in 2007 (August actually) I stumbled across the KoK, found a version of it online before it was officially released, and CAG was reignited for me. Mainly DK. I joined TG immediately after viewing KoK, and found the forums and DK talk. Became obsessed with the idea of getting a killscreen.

I remember when John Marks pulled off the killscreen in 2007 on MAME and that made me see others can do it beside the known big 3 (or 4)  that have.

Its been quite a ride since then. I'm not near as into CAG anymore. I still managed to fire up a game on Friday evenings when I can, but my game is not near as focused as it once was. Still plan to get back into top 10 at some point.

Just can't believe 10 years has passed doing it.

Yeah, good luck on all of your attempts to get back in the top ten. The depth on that list is deepest one I can think of on classic arcade games.

Going 10 years back for me takes me to when I was grinding away on Track & Field going for the WR.  I was recording EVERY SINGLE GAME for at least 2 months. I was playing at least 2-3 hours a day getting back to back 94k+ games with no resets or restarts.  I was SOOOO close for what seemed like forever.

10 years also takes me back to when I only had ONE Arcade machine. It was the only one for about a full year. Now I have 25ish and 200ish pcbs. HAHAHA

Just curious. How good were you BITD and how good were you when you got got all fired up and back into it?

Hec
2 months away from having that T&F  record for 10 years.

Thanks. Yeah 8-10 years ago I was playing once a night or every other night, now I play a game and if the tries don't go well for the first 30 minutes I shut if off and do other things.

25 is a lot of machine, that would be a cool thing to have one day. I have 3 (DK, missile command, Defender)

Back in the day I was an above average player but never "great" on anything, too many new machines kept popping up for me to focus on one. I got over a million on pac-man after it came out and I thought that was awesome, I had no idea about kill screens or I didnt have the desire to play it for that long to see one.

Funny, I loved track and field BITD, but my technique was oscillating my thumb and pinky back and forth and could never build up past two blue blocks left on the energy bar.  And I always had to be player 1 because I would have to stand to the left to do it. The scratching technique you do I never even seen anyone attempt  BITD.

That's what I usually saw people doing as well in the 80s.

In reality, and not Seth Gordons version of reality, Billy's 1982 DK record was broke over 17 years ago and 3 years BEFORE anyone heard of Steve Webie. This is well known, well documented and still listed on the TG scoreboard to this day. (8/16/2000) but TG STILL cannot get the date right as its listed 8 months AFTER it occurred.  TG, Seth Gordon, Walter and Billy and Steve have a lot of egg on their face, but that's ok because the most rewarding part of the whole experience was when they got paid their money and media attention for, in my opinion, not being as good as they claimed to be.

The movie was a fake and basically a slap in the face to me, especially when my score was at first accepted by TG as "official" complete  with congratulatory call from Silly B several weeks latter. Steve Webie could not handle the fact that I  beat him to the punch and uses his movie influence to  lie about it to discredit my score. (Walter and Billy knew better but being the well renowed gaming historians they were said NOTHING I n my defense)  Then, after the subject material has been exploited for profit,  my score, once again becomes "undisputed". I expose the 5 man Dragon's Lair score as mathematically impossible and prove it, yet NOONE says anything. Twin Galaxies, the.... "OFFICIAL".... source for hypocrisy, will-full ignorance and  duplicitous thinking!

Tim, have you seen the Donkey Kong world record progression video?  It mentions you as well.  It has over 244 thousand views.
I know it's not as famous as the King of Kong, but at least modern day big videos are acknowledging you.  So maybe you finally are getting that moment in the sun.

Yes, I've seen the video, but the point I was simply mention does NOT negate the fact I was intentionally cheated out of a substantial amount of money when that subject material came up for film interest and was marketable. To See Silly B. lie in that film stating that no one has ever come close  and the film clearly states that  "FOR OVER 20 YEARS" nobody has ever beat Billy until Steve came along a slap in the face especially what Billy and Steve got paid for doing it.

Then I remember the people that run Twin Galaxies have no shame.

BTW, TWO THOUSAND, that's right $2,000  USD  bounty for anyone that beats 515k on the arcade 1983 Cinematronics Dragon's Lair let alone the ...."BOGUS" ....TG listed  WR of 558k.

Rules: Any 1983 Cinematronics Rom revision A-F2 is acceptable, Any difficulty setting, and game must use no more than 5 lives and end after first Dragon's Lair sequence. Disc skipping is allowed (LOL) so if your using a real LD player by all means feel free to kick that LDP around as you play if you think it will give you extra points! (LMFAO!)

Use of LDP converter PCB's as well as emulator is allowed. Considering the vast Knowledge and so called...... "experts"...... that TG has on this matter I will be expecting to pay out 2k shortly. Oh yea,......this offer stands from now until the end of time! No Time limit.

You know Tim, I did message the Facebook Seth Green a few months ago.  I told him he should pay you the $10,000.  He didn't respond, but I know he read the message.  So at least he knows about your contention.

Have you thought about going to the Twin Galaxies website to dispute the score, <Tim> ? If you can prove (used loosely here) that the score is fake, they will remove it. :)

I've tried proving to TG that the Dragon's Lair 5 man score (558k) is bogus, but remember this is Twin Galaxy's we're talking about......NOT...a reputable score keeping or historic preservation organization that actually cares.

After all,Twin Galaxy's  had no problem stating my original DK score was "constantly disputed" and "impossible to verify" when in fact it never was so Steve Webie could buy his way in to the chronology of events. Definitely  not what you'd expect from an honest score keep and history archive organization.

After 20 years I'm done with charts and doing the math to explain and prove  that the Dragon's Lair 5 man record is bogus. Now all I have to say on the matter is.... "TAKE....MY....MONEY!"

2k for anyone that beats 515k let alone the bogus 558k Dragon's Lair 5 man record. Any combo of Cinematronics roms a-F2, and LDP combo, any difficulty setting, and emulator is also allowed.
Only up to 5 lives can be used.

The 999,999 Dragon's Lair max out utilizing a little known joystick button combo before inserting your quarters is BS. as you are still using unlimited lives. Big deal. Anyone off the street could beat 558k  with unlimited lives never even having played it before.

This trick is nothing new as I knew about it when one of the Daphne developers discovered it as far back as 1998 or 1999.

And yes, disc skipping is allowed! So if using an original LDP of any make or model feel free to kick it during game play to get it to jump track for extra points (LMFAO!!!!)

Or feel free to mare the surface of your laserdisc with heavy grit sand paper or steel wool pads for those extra points that only happen during "disc skipping"...again   LMFAO!

TG has an actual dispute system now. Use it and stop re-posting the same shit here over and over again. We all know. We all get it.

Score Dispute forum (http://www.twingalaxies.com/forumdisplay.php/468-Score-Dispute-Review)
Dragon's Lair Leaderboard (http://www.twingalaxies.com/game_detail.php?gameid=3619&platformid=2)

Click on "Undisputed" to initiate a Dispute thread. You'll likely need to accrue some credibility points first, so get to work.

I told him he should pay you the $10,000.

10K?! <gasp>

After some back of the napkin....

In 2007 (The King of Kong debut), if you would have lump summed the whole 10K into a low-cost, tax-efficient, total U.S. stock market index fund, and reinvested all the dividends, today it would be worth a whopping 18K.

I love how the whole monetary value of what they made off that damn film is always down played and negated as an issue.

By that rational I could rob a bank for 10k to 18k and when I get caught my defense in a court of law would be just what your implying............. " Geee, well, it really wasn't "that" much money"   and I should be free and clear.  Anybody think that the court system or district attorney would buy that excuse?

I know in Steve and Billy's world when you have hot sauce business and restaurant simply  handed to you and legacy jobs at Boeing  handed to you from your parents, 10k-20k seems like nothing , but in most everybody's world,  it is a big deal especially when it was earned to begin with.

If anyone that took money from that film thinks is a small amount of money then atleast paypal me the amount that Saunders  grifted out of it.  From a fair  factual and chronological point I should have been included and was cheated out of opportunity.  "Constantly disputed" and Impossible to verify"..........remember?  Oh yea that was just a lie from the very people that are in charge of "preserving gaming history"

BTW Steve Webies first kill screen date as listed on this site should be changed to his first accepted TG submission and not "Circa 1989" as he says. Steve is the only player on that timeline with NO PROOF! yet his word is taken as fact even after claiming to be the first to beat Billy's 1982 DK WR which obviously never was.
Hmmmmm. still no paypal deposit, guess its not that small a sum of money after all.
