Title: The Kong Off 5 Wildcard Qualifier!
Post by: WCopeland on April 10, 2016, 07:14:46 pm
The Kong Off 5 Wildcard Qualifier!

This tournament will run very similarly to Eric Tessler's Donkey Kong Online Opens! The top two scoring players will earn a dedicated cabinet at Kong Off 5. Note that if you're in the arcade top 12 or are the #1 aggregate from the DKOs since KO4, you already have a cabinet reserved. This is an alternative qualification method, and will be a one-time only weekend event.

OK, so based on that Dean is in first, and Tim Sczerby is on the outside looking in.  Ironic that the no MAME rule for the top 12 may nudge an Arcade player out.

Right now the current arcade top 12 is:

And the #1 DKO seed is Tim with 1.07m.

Just to clarify -- you can compete in this event if you're the #1 DKO seed or already in the arcade top 12. If you come top 2, you'll lock in your spot 100% for sure in the event you're knocked out of those other two groups.

I have a question. What happens if someone who qualifies here cannot make it? Does the spot go to the next down on the overall list or the next down for this event? Thank you.

I will not be attending the KO5 in person, so my participation in this event is strictly a "what if" exercise.

The spot would go to the next person down, similar to how the arcade top 12 will work.
We're only a week away!

Out of curiosity, and my previously noted interest in separate MAME and arcade scoreboards, where did the list that Wes posted above come from that lists Dean's arcade score? I'm guessing maybe it is from a different forum? Anyways, just interested in where separate scoreboards might be being kept for reference. You can see the 'show combined platforms' link, which is pretty much exactly what I had been interested in.

The separated top 12 arcade and MAME scores have been a part of the Main HSL (https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=366.0) for a long time. Scroll to the bottom.
