Title: Youtube Copyright Infringements
Post by: lakeman421 on January 05, 2016, 11:45:33 am
So yesterday I decided to upload my new arcade CK high score I did at Funspot in December.  I ended up getting an email from YouTube saying there was copyright claims against my video from the music being played at the arcade.  Not the first time this ever happened to me so I figured no big deal.  Then the link to the video wasnt working and it wasnt showing up in my videos section on the site.  Clicking on the link brought me to the video and all the claims they had against me.  The attachment is a screen shot of what it showed.  They told me that my video is blocked in 29 countries the US being one of them.  I am currently going through the process of editing these songs out through the site with very little success.  Seems like they are relly cracking down on this stuff now and I just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention.  I was afraid this would happen at some point which is why I always kind of kept my uploads silent.

I learned when I was playing Kiss pinball to be mindful of the music being played in the background...the music was coming from the pinball machine! I didn't want to edit it out I'll let Gene earn his pennies...but if I walk into an arcade that's blaring music I'll mute the video and throw in the free music YouTube let's you use

It's getting nuts lately. I often make little clips of playing cover tunes on guitar, and it picks that up as copyright infringement. And if youtube doesn't, when I post it on facebook, it happens there. Facebook actually played the video, but overdubbed it with some weird version of the song synced up perfectly with my video. I didn't quite get that.

It's bad enough twitch mutes all my archive streams, but I can't play without music.

I used to upload a few songs to youtube for private viewing/listening (they're not public to view) but even those seem to get monitized and copyright flagged or blocked in certain countries, all my twitch highlights have been muted with music  <mad>

Whats wierd is I am subscribed to some channels that consistantly upload music yet they are still operational despite uploading copyright tracks.  <confused>

^^
this channel has been going for over 5 years and even though the author has recieved 1 or 2 strikes he seems to stave off a deletion...so its mind boggling that atmospheric/ background music (even in games) can result in
a channel closing or videos being removed.

Well my nephew is unsigned, and all of his music will not get you a copy right infringement.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhfK0BXNugE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhfK0BXNugE) This is an hour an 18 minutes worth of his stuff

I think I will use my nephews music if I ever stream again.  You kill two birds with one stone.  You make my nephew more famous, and you get copyright free music. 8)

What was that song your nephew did that "inspired" an Apicary video? Was it Champion?

He put it on private because he didn't like the negative attention I garnered it.

Edit:

There are better videos anyways.  This is a good example of his talent.  It's a cover of Bizarre Love Triangle-New Order

Also I don't think his video actually inspired Apicaries Champin' video.  I was just foolin' around since they are both labeled variations of Champion, and they came out at the same time.  The bogus conspiracy theory seemed plausible.

By the way there is a song that is popular out there that I like to think was inspired by my nephew's music.  It's Katy Perry's  Friday Night.  Listen to the guitar riff on her song.

Now listen to the guitar riff of my nephew's song.

After 2nd thought though, I am not too sure why I thought this inspired the riff of Katy Perry's song.

So now my video is back up after I had YouTube take out the songs offending their policies.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pwkn4xyOsEw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pwkn4xyOsEw)  Most of the music seems to still be there but certain parts of the video have been muted Twitch style.
