Anyone play DK and other classics on a 25" monitor ?

I might be getting a cab with a vertical 25" monitor .

I'm pretty sure the DK/DKJ/MB cab Namco released in 2005 has a 25" monitor.  It's odd at first but once I got used to it, I didn't think it was a big deal.  I found the stock joystick for these to be more burdensome than the monitor size.

I used to own that 3-1 cab. DK was fairly easy to get used to, it just wasn't quite the same feel. Mario bros on the verticle 25" was horrible. I ended up selling the 3-1 and bought a dedicated DK and MB cabs. I would think if you had a real Nintendo 4 way controller it would be bearable. Of course if you were going to use monitor for only Nintendo games you would need install an  inverter board to invert the colors.

Hi all,

I might be re-asking the same question, but I want to get a DK board and Nintendo-to-jamma adapter.  I have a Street Fighter 2 cab with 25” horizontal monitor.  Will this work, with the video displaying correctly?  Any other potential issues with this configuration?

The biggest issue to overcome is you would need to physically rotate the monitor 90 degrees. If not it will display sideways. That would take some modifications to monitor mounts. It's possible that the monitor then would stick out too far to get the back door on.
You would need to get an inverter or the colors will be wrong. You would have an 8 way controller for a 4 way game. I've never played dk with an 8 way maybe someone else can talk about the playability of that set up.

8-way is the least issue.  I'm playing with 8-way via MAME sometimes, but have sanwa sticks in my sf cab and in the stick that I play MAME with, which can be switched to 4-way via the restrictor plate.  Good info, glad I asked before I made the purchase, the other items would've been a show-stopper.  Thanks for the feedback.  Guess I'm continuing to keep my eyes open for a dedicated cab at an affordable price.  :)
