Just a sparse list to get this going. Ok, so here we go...
Sagliophobia
The fear of beginning Level 5 with fewer than 140,000 points.
Chienophobia
The fear of a world record attempt disrupted by an obnoxious spectator's constant declaration, "Hey Doc, my elbow hurts when I do this..."
Willmsophobia
The fear that every fireball in existence is a "jerk".
Staalophobia
The fear of falling through an open rivet hole.
Vincophobia
An unnatural fear of the number 2700.
Psarophobia
The fear of being forced, at gunpoint, to play at 1.2m pace for 8 consecutive hours.
Davophobia
The fear of having a masterful 1.14m game rejected by TG, due to a submitted video that consists of 2 hours 41 minutes of a dog relaxing on a sofa.
Vonophobia
The fear of playing DK without the aid of an infectious techno soundtrack.
Stellaphobia
The fear of broadcasting embarrassingly poor gameplay on Twitch TV.
There's no shortage of imagination on this forum. Feel free to be creative, and add a few "phobias" of your own.
-
Hahaha, that's funny, Scott ;-).
Willmsophobia:
The fear of using savestates while playing Mario Hack
Sagliophobia:
The fear of getting a level 3/4 wild barrel in the face IN THE FACE
Goffinetophobia:
The fear of getting 200 points shy of 1m
Vinceophobia:
The fear of dying on the kill screen, before the kill screen.
Tudoseophobia:
The fear of playing the game past level 1-1
-
Some quality additions there, Vincent. A couple of "alternate" definitions I just thought of:
Estelophobia
The fear of accidentally grabbing the hammer on Level 21 of an attempted "no hammer" run.
Willmsophobia
The fear of never owning a DK cabinet due to an obsessed UPS employee in Colorado, determined to get past the Level 4 elevators, despite a personal best of 28k.
-
Haha, but for Estel, we could say "On stage 22" instead of stage 21. Like he's at the kill screen, he's so happy, he climb the small ladder, and he takes the bottom hammer with a forward jump because he's used to it (on a no hammer run). That would be funny, lol.
-
Pretty funny stuff :)

Yeah, I thought of that too, but decided to leave the post unedited.
Obviously, there's one person who wouldn't find the Level 22 scenario quite so hilarious.
Ok, just one more and then I'll shut up:
Wagsophobia
The fear of arcade gamers boycotting any title that prominently features a kangaroo, or other marsupial.
-
I want one!
-
This blog always entertains. Good stuff.

I want one!
Ok, Robbie, I haven't watched enough of your online sessions to familiarize myself with your playing style and/or idiosyncrasies, but I'll give it my best shot.
Lakemaphobia
The fear of mandatory attendance at a 4-hour Allen Staal seminar, "How to Confuse Fireballs and Master the Pie Factory", without the benefit of unlimited beer refills.
And while I'm at it, let's bring another killscreener into the mix.
Ethanphobia
The fear of an overweight feline mistaking your joystick for a scratching post, during an uncooperative L16 rivet stage of a potential 1.05m masterpiece.

I'm not referring to that joystick, Vincent, so don't even think about dragging this topic through the gutter. S'matta with you? :)
-
Awesome. That's right on the money, he's a S*** Cat. How much are tickets for Allen's seminar? :P
Well done Brian! Im quite greatfull for the inclusion in the phobia club. Thanks again
-
Well done Brian!
Please tell me that you deliberately made that mistake . . . again. ;)

Damn... now I have nothing else to say!

Estelophobia
The fear of accidentally grabbing the hammer on Level 21 of an attempted "no hammer" run.
lmao ;D
-
But of course Scott! :P

I fucking love Kangaroo....

I am having anxiety about my jump button not working next Saturday. It's starting to not respond (recently installed Mike's arcade repo). Anyone have an orange DK button for sale? Bummed.
-
did you adjust the microswitch when installing? mikes buttons are a little shorter than the originals so will not press the lever as much...

Ok, let's try a couple more.
MikeGrophobia (synonym: Boydaphobia)
The fear of being interviewed each year at the Kong Off, and facing the same tired question, "So, tell us what it's like to be the second best DK player in Michigan?"
And just to prove I'm semi-aware of current events:
Kencadaphobia
The fear of announcing victory at the BOTA, and facing resentment from non-gaming colleagues who assume you've won a BOAT, but can't spell it.
On that last one, I've tried to phrase it a dozen different ways. No matter how it's expressed, it comes across as weak. Sorry about that. :(
-
Haha, nice Scott!
Hey is there footage out there of any of the interviews John and his crew did?
Actually the current affliction that I seem to be suffering from is 'Dbogaphobia'.
dbog - distracted by other games

Here's one for a future forum member, who has yet to register, but plans to do so.
Exisidiphobia
The fear of being blamed for 8 deaths, suffered by 8 players, during 8 separate DK streaming sessions, that invariably occur within 30 seconds of typing, "This is the one!" in the chat window.
All in good fun, Derrick. I know you're sensitive to that self-perceived "jinx" factor.

Hahaha, that gave me a great laugh Scott. It really happens a lot of times like that ;) I'll get home, see Dave has a great game going. Mention about it and start watching. Then a few seconds later... death. It's a curse!

I can't believe this one didn't occur to me until just now:
Coreyphobia
The fear of painstakingly updating the source links in the Donkey Kong High Score List, only to wake up the next morning and discover that all of them have been mysteriously redirected to the Allen Staal "Rage Compilation #4" video.

Hmmmmmmmm..... ;)

HAHA. Very funny. That would be a bum deal, but luckily I know very well that only few can change my post, and that if it happened, that I would have them fix it!
By the way, I live in Michigan too. Maybe Shawn and Mike would like to meet up sometime?
-
I'm game...just have to find a DK machine somewhere between Bay City and the Metro Detroit area...
-
Just one for now:
Xelniaphobia
The paralyzing fear that, at some future date, the members of the Young family will appear on the Donkey Kong High Score List in reverse alphabetical order.

I need to get my sh*t together and play. I haven't put in any serious time for quite a few days!

How about an alternate definition for our fireball whispering friend?
Vonophobia
The fear of getting a great deal on a new keyboard, only to discover that 3 critical keys are missing:
D 8 =
-
I'd just start posting pictures at that point.
-
Ha! Strangely enough, Ross announced a short time ago on Allen's stream that he apparently spilled something on his keyboard, and would be looking to get a new one! (6th keyboard so far...)

An obsessive aversion to any declarative sentence not punctuated with both ! and :-)

It's been more than a year since I last updated this list.
I'll create a new entry right now:

Wagsophobia - The fear that no one will post in the list forum
If Steve doesn't already suffer from this phobia, he will when he finishes reading what follows:
Wagsophobia
The paralysis-inducing fear of opening an email message with the subject line: "95% Discount on St. Louis Cardinals VIP Package", only to discover that it contains every Steely Dan setlist from the 2015 summer tour. <gasp>
Relax, it was just a bad dream.
-
Stellaphobia
The fear of being falsely accused of the aforementioned Steely Dan email prank, resulting in grievous bodily harm.
-
Abuse.
