Hi
So ive been wondering this and would like to know other peoples opinions.
Say I make it to lvl 22 (hypothetically I know:) and i'm all excited, running to the first barrel and forget to jump for the timing. I die on the barrel game over. Can I say ive kill screened DK? Sure I made it to the kill screen but didn't activate it. Have I Kill Screened DK?
Nick
EDIT: Fixed my lvl typo

*thats an Allen Staall Kill screen* With Rage quit to boot. AKA Game over
-
Definitely not, if it's L21. ;)

If you make it to the killscreen it's making it to the killscreen, and therefore a killscreen game. Now if the question was is this considered making it to the end of the game, than I would say no.

miss under stood the question. It would be a level 21 game over... should have been a kill screen

This could be a fun (or un-fun, depending on personal taste) semantic argument, but IMO, the real gameplay is over the second you pull the final rivet on 21-6. That finishes the job.
To me, "the moment" isn't when Jumpman dies, it's when the timer bugs out. You can see Jumpman stop cold and spin around due to a timeout death anytime you want, but that 100/4000 timer flash is the defining element of the kill screen because it doesn't happen anywhere else in the game.
As far as HOW you die once you're on the kill screen, I don't think it matters. You're already dead.

to me dying accidently on the killscreen is a FAIL...
maybe because i havnt killscreened yet, i would certainly be most unsatisfied!
was it ever specified for the kong off bounties or anything?

It was specified in the wording. "First person to reach the kill screen" is clear.
If you're on 22-1, you've reached the kill screen!
If the bounty is intended as "first person to die due to the kill screen bug," it would have to be phrased that way.

If you're on 22-1, you've reached the kill screen!
Absolutely. In my opinion, reaching the kill screen = kill screening the game. Dying on Level 22-1, before the unavoidable death kicks in, is a technicality I'm more than willing to overlook.
Let's say a player reaches the kill screen and decides to go for 800 points. They mistime the backjump/hammer smash combo and land on the 2nd barrel. Would you deny their inclusion on the DK Kill-Screener Timeline? If so, you can break the bad news to them, because I certainly won't.

I did exactly this when I first made it to the kill screen. And yea, if you make it to L22, you made it to the kill screen imho.
