Who on DKF believed Tim Sczerby 'made up' the name McManus?  McManus is a fairly common name.  And how did this topic derail to poker?

Nice!  I still have market trading in my sites as a way to do exactly that.  I have been at it for around 10 years now on and off.

Are you saying you reached your goals through collusion?  Or just that your group of friends helped you emotionally, etc.

Certainly not collusion at the table, no one would soft play each other.  It's just easier to know which games exhibit which behaviors when you have a group of people all playing at different tables, it's sort of like live poker tracker if that makes sense.  Then you would look for a specific seat to open should a game exhibit perceived favorable behaviors.  This takes awhile, obviously, but I didn't have to be anywhere else so wtf.

I suppose it's akin to someone telling a buddy at another table that there's some drunk guy spewing chips at his table, it was just much more elegant and perceptive in nature I suppose.  Sometimes it was unnecessary though, for example, when I was taking shots at 5/10 NL, you did not want to see young Asian kids, that would be a 2/5 NL day instead, etc.  All things being equal though, when you play a lot with good players that are constantly evaluating players at their table and calculating tendencies, it's quite helpful long term especially when you played at the same casino every month.  In a game of incomplete information, any inputs are helpful and at those limits, you hardly saw many people changing their play.

I should probably shut up now and stop derailing this thread.

Getting back on topic....I'm posting at a non-poser pace lately.  Kappa.

Technically, Steve, I think I might be wrong about the derail.  Since McManus is the name of a prominent of poker player, it is on topic Kappa.
Keepo.

I played professionally on Pokerstars for a few months playing sit-n-gos.  I was in the WSOP Main Event qualifier and top 156 got the prize package for buy-in and expenses.  I got 228th I believe losing an all in with 10 10 to KQ off suit after over 8 hours of playing.  It was a hard hit to take.  The funny thing about online poker is that the cards are shuffeled based on a RNG and I noticed a few patterns and used it to my advantage.  I actually was close to black listed because people complained about how often I won.  Black Friday happened and now I actually have to work for a living  >:(

How many SNG would you play at a time?

And I don't think the Poker Stars card shuffler was a simple RNG.  It used user inputs such as mouse movements and thing of that sort to shuffle the cards...so I don't know how anyone could ever recognize patterns.  Could have been coincidence...or I could be wrong.

I used to play 20-25 at a time my goal would be to play at least 50 of them a night.  I used to dominate the Double or Nothing SNGs at medium stakes.  The pattern or trend I was able to notice was when they handed me a great hand like QQ and based on the previous couple hands I could tell when it was time to fold and fair enough an ace or king would fall.  It wasnt that I knew what was coming but when I was set up to lose a big hand.  Increasing your odds by a small percentage makes all the difference in the world if you played as many SNGs as I did.  If you look on their site they can give you all the info on their RNG.  There were even books I read about the RNG where the outcome was also determined by your winning percentage and the players at your table.
