The Python code that runs MARP was written around 1998 by an English guy named Chris "Zwaxy" Moore. Last I heard he was living in Prague. He hasn't been involved much in the day to day operation of MARP for about 20 years and nobody else knows the code well. If anything ever happens to Barry "mahlemiut" Rodewald or Pat Laffaye (of Frogger record fame), MARP will probably die.

There was apparently an upgrade on the host's end a little over a week ago. They are trying to figure out whether something needs to be done on the MARP side or the DreamHost side to get it to run again.

There is no reason to assume the worst at this point, but who knows?

Well, hold on, don't write the future demise of the site just yet.  A.I. can write in obscure code already. It seems to me that someone knowledgeable in Chat GPT 4 could create a work around.

I might be overestimating its powers. Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if ChatGPT 5 or 6 in the future would be able to pull it off if four isn't able to.

If anyone from the MARP side needs technical help getting things up and running again, I'm happy to volunteer my expertise, whether it's with Python or SQL.
