Title: Spike TV Video Game Awards
Post by: lifereboot on December 06, 2013, 06:02:31 am
Just a gentle reminder that on Dec 7th there's supposed to be a 5 min clip covering some footage from the KO3, mostly featuring Hank and Vincent.

I don't have cable so I won't be able to watch it live -- hopefully someone will nab it and upload it somewhere.

Looks like it's going to be streamed online, no cable tv necessary.

I unfortunately won't be able to watch it.  Would it be possible to have it uploaded to Youtube to watch later?

Why? So some yuppie punks with their scholarships can just sit back and steal all of your fame?

You're right Ethan, those Ivy League bastards took my fame along with my 10k which is champagne money to them.  That money would have changed my life forever.  I deserve that money so I will troll the forums until the check arrives.

This documentary was shot by the crew from Vice Magazine/Media.  They told me there will be 2 versions of the documentary-- a shorter 5 minute version and a longer 15-30 minute version.  The shorter version will focus on the rivalry between Vince and me.  The longer version will give a broader picture of the Kong Off.  I believe they got interviews with everyone in the top 12 as well as with many other players/organizers.

The one that will be streamed live tonight during VGX will be the shorter version.

EDIT: link to stream: http://www.spike.com/shows/video-game-awards (http://www.spike.com/shows/video-game-awards)

(It will also be streamed on Xbox One, Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3 (PS3â„¢), Twitch, iOS and Android devices, and available globally on VGXLIVE.com, Hulu, Yahoo Screen, the Yahoo Screen app and Viacom properties Spike.com, ComedyCentral.com MTV.com, MTV2.com, BET.com and GameTrailers.com.)

VGX is 3 hours I believe.  I'm not sure when during those 3 hours it will be.  Ironically Vince and I are both working today and we will both likely miss it if they run it early.  VGX will also be broadcasted on cable TV (Spike TV) as "VGX Replay" on Dec 9 at midnight (the midnight between Mon/Tue Dec 9/Dec 10) EST.  The broadcast will be narrowed down to only 1 hour, so I'm not sure if we'll make the cut.

I'm not sure where the longer version will appear, but they have a youtube channel and website:

http://www.youtube.com/user/vice (http://www.youtube.com/user/vice)

http://motherboard.vice.com/en_us (http://motherboard.vice.com/en_us)

Silly side question:  If someone says Dec 9 at midnight, do they mean the midnight between Dec 8/9 or between Dec 9/10.

How much did they pay you?  I want double that.

I can't say.  They told me not to tell anyone because then Vincent would get upset.

They didn't interview me. Toward the end of the event I asked if they wanted to interview me and they said, "No, noob...you don't count...you're 13'th!". Kappa.

Looking forward to watching the doc, thanks for the info!

Perhaps you have your parental controls set to block all "Lemay" content.

An advisable choice, I might add.   ;)

Actually, it's not showing up on my listings grid either.  However, I did receive an email with the following Twitch URL:

One of the great things about the Kong Off is that I (evidently) managed to avoid virtually all cameras, both video and still. Goal = successful! ;D

I am certainly looking forward to watching this though...

It was awesome!!

The only thing I kept thinking when it was over was: MORE MORE MORE

I could watch a whole movie with Hank and Vincent, definitely

Just aired, about 1hr 20mins into the 3 hour live coverage.

I was able to snag two videos, one on my PC and one on my Macbook.  It was weird because on my PC, the video is nice and smooth, but no audio was recorded.  On my Macbook, the video is really choppy, but I got the audio.

If someone better at editing video than me wants the files (one .avi and one .mov), so we can add the audio from one to the good playback, and put it on youtube, let me know, I'll be happy to send them to you.

Looked pretty cool but they spelled George Leutz's name wrong!  Sinners!

If you want to view it right away you can apparently rewind the live feed, just go to the 1:21 mark in the video.

Thanks Chris for ripping that segment.  Where did you get the segment from?  Did you rip it directly from here: http://www.spike.com/video-collections/8236y5/vgx-vgx-2013-highlights/h9xgdg? (http://www.spike.com/video-collections/8236y5/vgx-vgx-2013-highlights/h9xgdg?)  As I think your clip was available before that one.

Anyhow a lot of the discussion about the longer cut is happening on facebook, so I figured I'd post here for those not on facebook.  The longer cut will be shorter than originally planned.  I heard (through Vince) it will be ~8 minutes.  The focus will still be on the rivalry between Vince and me.  I know they had originally planned to do a broader documentary about the KO/community but it seems like there was a change of plans.  It will be released tomorrow (probably on their website and/or youtube channel... I posted the links earlier).

I know Robbie is going to be pissed he got cut out, but he does have a 2 frame cameo at 4:24 ([noembed]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2fEk3Dfgtc[/noembed]) where his name appears on the overhead TV.  Ironically this is about as much screen time as Tim S. got.

In honor of Vincent, I YOLO'ed (jumped a fireball on 21-6) at 4:28.  "This is called, using the conquered foe to augment one's own strength."  - Sun Tzu (Art of War).  YOLO!

If anyone is watching Spike TV tonight can you let me know if we made the TV cut?  Just curious.

Yeah, the short documentary will be put on Youtube (most likely), probably on the website too, tomorrow.

And I did cry of joy when I saw Hank doing his YOLO jump over a fireball on 21-6... brings tears to my eyes everytime I see it!

I decided now that I don't want the fame or recognition.  I just want the 10k I deserve.  You have to realize that there is a legal definition as a doc-u-men-tary and this will not fall under that definition.

Actually Hank, with the first version I uploaded, I captured the stream from the VGX website as it was playing live. But later I went to their Twitch channel and saw that the show was broadcast in high-definition, so I then grabbed that version from the Twitch archive and uploaded it (because we need Vincent and Hank in high-def!)

I don't think it was shown on TV tonight, BTW. Oh well!

No video today!

Hmm...

I'm going to take an optimistic tack and say that the long video isn't being released because the short received such a positive response that they've changed their plans and now want to do something more ambitious, like make it longer, broadcast it somewhere else, or some such.

Oyé oyé!

Xavier (one of the two guys that filmed the documentary) told me they had "graphics problems"' that's why they haven'T be able to upload it yesterday on Youtube. He told me that the documentary will be uploaded by tomorrow (thursday) at noon (most likely). Everything is okay with the documentary, they just had minor problems!

I heard the graphics problems have to do with there being fuzziness on the left side of the video.
