Watched Montage of Heck, the Nirvana doc last night. Pretty good. I enjoyed the early tape recording of songs on his boom box that he leaves running to just answer the phone or whatever. How his daughter is a functional human being (I assume she is), is a miracle. Good heavens.
In any event top 5 Nirvana songs according to the fund from which glorious sunshine emits....
1. Sappy/Verse Chorus Verse (No alternative album)
2. Serve the Servants
3. Downer
4. Drain You
5. Swap Meet

3. Drain You
4. Heart Shaped Box
5. All Apologies
If you throw in Unplugged, 5a and 5b would be "The Man Who Sold the World", and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night". I've got some really old bluesy versions of that one (In the Pines) by older artists, and Kurt more than did it justice.

Hell yes, krehztim. Good choices.

I'll add a slight twist to the thread by doing 5 songs that Nirvana sampled or covered from back in the day.
1. Killing Joke - Eighties (Come as you are)
2. Lead Belly - Where Did You Sleep Last Night?
3. 4 Skins :o -"On The Streets" (Polly)
4. Jake Holmes - Dazed and Confused
5. Meat Puppets - Oh, Me

Love me some Bill Monroe "In the Pines", same basic song, with a haunting bluegrass twist.

Sappy is so good. When I first heard it I thought he was saying "You read it in a locker room" but it turns out he's saying "You're really in a laundry room" which I guess makes much more sense given the other lyrics.

I'm partial to Veryape ;)
Also, Old Age is a great rarity.

I constantly think about this topic, because to me it was a special time in my life. I was lucky to be 13-18 years old when these special late 80s to 90s grunge bands came on the scene. I knew I was listening to special music, but did I know that music would completely fade out after that, no i did not. What do I mean by that? Can you name a band that has lasted the test of time after the 1995 and earlier era? I've already mentioned my top Nirvana songs, but I'm truly lucky to have experienced that era at it's height, because to me, new music is basically lost.
