Post by: JCHarrist on August 04, 2013, 11:03:08 am

I think it would be nice to hear a full explanation concerning Arcade-Only submissions for the top 12, especially in the light of exceptions that were made in the past, and if exceptions like this may be possible in the future.

KO4 too, huh!?

I'm glad Richie is taking questions. However, it would have been nice to know about this a little bit more ahead of time so people could have more time to make their questions concise as well as not overlap with other people's questions.

I don't have time right now to type up my questions or ones I've heard others ask, but maybe someone can pick some of the good ones out of this thread (https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=323.0 (https://donkeykongforum.net/index.php?topic=323.0)) and paste them here.

Well remember Mitch, the Arcade Culture show is going to be a few hours, and it isn't going to be 3 hours of just Donkey Kong. It is the Arcade Culture show after all, not the DK only show:) So maybe just the one or two questions you think are most important and would like answers to. If everyone has one or two questions, I'm sure the segment will still go on for an hour and a half.

Corey, I thought we discussed your question here, at least as it relates to Dean (On the recommendation of some of the top DK players, Richie invited Dean come down to the arcade and prove himself, which he did) but Richie said he will gladly talk about it tonight. Also if you'd like to call in and ask the question personally, Richie says he'd have you on as a call-in guest.

the format for the wildcard tourney seems to be based on there being 8 cabs, and 8 players playing there own cab on sunday, how do the extra 2 cabs fit in?

There was a discussion and I read it. But I guess hearing from him personally explain it himself, especially as it relates to possible exceptions in the future, or if Phil will be invited, I don't recall Phil being mentioned that is all. I appreciate the invitation to call in and ask the question, but in general I considered less my question, since it does not pertain to me directly, but more for the sake of others who don't agree with the discussion. That is all. I am too unfamiliar with the show, and do not know Richie personally so I am not inclined to call, but only watch, at this point.

I just want to know how Friday's going to work.

Can the main lineup players do competition-eligible scores all day, or only after machine selection at 5:30?

And how long does the live qualifying round for the wildcards last? From 11:30 until 5:30, or from 11:30 to 5:30, then a pause for machine selection, then until midnight?

If a player in the top 12 is unable to attend, how will a replacement be picked? By what date will this be known?

Will scores achieved at the KO3, on DK or any other game, be automatically TG verified, submitted, posted to the TG scoreboard, etc.

Jourdan told me that all scores done at the bar over the weekend will be eligible for (free) TG verification.

Haha, I knew when I wrote my post that either you or Ken would say something similar to this (as though I was asking it with such DK-only-ness or shortsightedness caused by my passion for DK).

Charity, gentlemen. Charity. I assure you I am not that obsessed with DK such that I even come close to expecting DK to take over Arcade Culture in the way you described. In fact, I'm one of the people who actively tries to get good at every game I play -not just DK. I'm also one of the people who probably least cares about how the KOs are run and what questions I want answered (just to be clear, this is because, for me, it's mainly about getting together with all my friends!).

I simply thought the fact that the thread was posted with such short notice wouldn't help the cause. One example of how more time may have helped: People on DKF could have voted on a top 3-5 questions for Richie to address to save him and the other AC people some time.

If that Congorilla machine shows up, I'll be happy.
