Well details are still a little sketchy but Richie has mentioned there is indeed a KO6 Coming!
1. Will be at his arcade in Flemington, New Jersey - Timeframe is Mar 2018
2. Current Formant is for 12 Cabs for Top 12 and 3 Wildcard machines.
3. Not sure how the Wildcard machines are going to be handled there was some qualifying going on. Those likely still apply.
More as details come in all!

Limited $50 tickets with no firm dates? Hahahaha. No.
-
Currently have no plans to attend after still being unpaid $750 from Kong Off 5. I hope everyone who goes has a great time!

<Tim> + <Billy> + <Wiebe> = Kreygasm

Elaborate? Is it run poorly? I would drive down from NYC for this.

ReplayFX is in no way affiliated with Richie Knucklez. Comparing the events is not even possible. There hasn't been a Kong Off at Richies since KO1. I understand Wes' position, but it should have no effect on yours GalacticDancin; it's about money, not how much fun the Kong Off is, or whether or not it's worth it. Again, this KO will be nothing like the last 4, Richie doesn't have any partners to try to tell him what to do this time. Just my 2 cents.
-
I don't have any concrete details, but I've heard rumblings that the next Kong Off would either be at Richie's arcade or the Museum of Pinball down in Banning. Obviously those are different coasts, so the either location would affect attendance significantly for people. I'm hoping for CA for selfish reasons.
Otherwise, no details.
Sorry to hear about your situation Wes. Hope your beef is with ReplayFX and not Richie.
-
ReplayFX handled the money so my beef is with them and not Richie. I'm sure in the end they'll do the right thing. It's not the money itself that is frustrating; I had planned to donate the entire $750. It's the principle -- they know they haven't paid me, I've contacted them about this in the past.

sounds fun but... i would probably. get arrested and thrown in jail if i went to this event.

So, New Jersey in March...got it :)
-
There are a couple of things that I feel are worth doing some serious thinking about before plans move further.
Don't shoot the messenger. :)
A KO in Banning is going to be a very hard sell to any contestant who will be traveling by air. LAX is approximately 100 miles away (ie, a 2-hour car ride). Transportation to and from the event is going to be the number one logistical problem. Remember that KO "4.5" (at the same venue) was essentially written off due to lack of competitors.
Issue number 2 is interest level for another live KO. I might be wrong, but my sense is that in 2018, assembling a Kong Off Row of top-score players isn't gonna be quite as easy as it was during the era when most of those scores were being set... we're talking a half-decade ago at this point. Competition and innovation on DK isn't exactly firey hot right now. We already know that the world champion won't be there unless his issue gets the resolution it deserves. We also haven't heard much lately from Dean, Hank, Vincent, Ross, Willms, Wiltshire, McCrary, et al when it comes to DK, and (aside from John and Jason) we haven't seen a rush of hungry up-and-comers filling that vacuum. And what about <Wiebe> / <Billy> / <Tim> ? It's probably really important, before anything has been set in stone, to actually gauge interest and establish who is going to be able and eager to make it to Banning (or New Jersey) in March. KO5 turned out great. If there's going to be a KO6, we should make sure it has a chance of being great too. We don't want to go out with a whimper.

DK3 is the new DK

Easy accept.

Just a thought, but there is the Ontario airport. It's less than 50 miles away from Banning.

Ontario is actually a nice little airport. Not the madness that is LAX, though you will likely not find a nonstop to it.
I didn't even know where Banning was, but apparently it's only about 40 miles from me.

Just saw the post everyone is referencing now. No idea about this latest change and what exactly the "Then the final Kong Off to be done at Richie Knucklez Arcade in Flemington NJ." means. Maybe a KO6 in Banning and then KO7 the following year? I havent seen / heard anything from Richie on this so when/if I do I'll post an update here.

Man, I've been telling you guys for weeks. 6 in Banning and 7 in Jersey. Just scroll around in the sht box history. I heard it from Richie and Weeks. Only they didn't know I heard.

Yup I just chatted to Richie on his stream as well as a FB post. KO6 is in Banning, CA in Mar 16-18.

yep

I think it's pretty cool to have it in California. It's nice to have different locations across the United States, lovit! As for myself, it adds to the cost of the flights, but who knows, wait and see! :)

Was it established that the next one is definitely in California? I have never competed due to concerns my scores were not high enough.
In the mean time, I just hit a legitimate 737,800 over the weekend on level 18, my best 3 lives score. The problem is that I still have games where I barely break 200 or 300,000, especially now that I'm trying to get out of running boards and moderately point pressing with lower hammer. I have never kill screened, so I'm not sure I'm Kong-Off material. In any event, I average about 400,000 and would like to participate in the next one in NJ. What proof is necessary to qualify? Is a screenshot enough or do I need to film an entire game of at least 600,000, which I understand is the least qualifying score?

I haven't seen any official announcements about a Banning Kong Off, and the last I heard Richie was selling off his arcade in NJ...so that puts a big question mark over a NJ Kong Off as well. I also don't know anything about 600,000 being a qualifying score. At one point Richie was accepting killscreens at specific events as qualifiers, and only one person made that cut.

Well its all over the Banning posters and on Facebook so I would say KO6 is officially at Banning. To me this is probably the last one unless Richie opens a new arcade or they just continue to have it someplace else (Which he did say they are going to try and open the arcade in a new location in that post).

Do you have a link, because I see nothing about the Kong Off on Arcade Expo's website or Facebook page.

Yeah I have to find that I saw posters with it added and Paul Dean and others talking about it as well as Richie but its not on the official site or facebook which is odd for sure.

We've finally got an official announcement (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156772529393378&set=a.94702663377.111756.620523377&type=3), via Richie on Facebook:
Announcing Kong Off 6! in Banning California March 16 to 18.
Pre-order your Marquee and Shirt today! More info all this week. The Kong Off 6 Machine has begun

In lieu of Facebook is there a website for the next Kong Off? Also, anyway to register/sign up for a marquee, etc.?
Thanks!
-
Hi all, I'm pretty new to these forums, (but not new to the arcade scene, lol). :-)
For those who don't have Facebook, Richie posted the marquee design today. Also, I'm fairly local to NJ (I'm in the tri-state area in CT near NYC) and I'm hoping to head down there for the tourney to do an episode on it (maybe a live stream?). I did something similar with Zapcon the past 2 years with the DK Remix and DK Jr. Remix public debuts with John K. I'll ask Richie to see what he thinks.

I'm friends with Richie on FB. If you really wanted the new marquee he is selling them for $80 shipped. I can always PM him your info and be the laison for the transaction, just let me know...
