Big Kong Barrel Boards

I guess I'll start this off. Admittedly, I am not very familiar with this game. I've watch Dean play this game a total of one time, and from what I remember, the long ladders seemed to be a pain to traverse even for him. My questions are: Is there an actual 100% safe way to climb these ladders? Does a certain necessary barrel pattern have to happen? Is it basically a guarantee that you will have a good chance to pass these ladders before the fireballs pressure you out of the 'safe' spot on the left end of the 2nd girder?

Now that I think about it, does Big Kong even have wild barrels? I don't seem to remember seeing any, but it was a long time ago when I watched Dean play...

Lastly, I assume it does, but does this game have a killscreen?

Look at the bright side, Mitch.  If you can successfully steer a barrel down that long ladder, you'll have ample opportunity to break a few more Cruis'n USA records before it reaches the bottom.   8)
