Depends on individual skill. If a dysgraphic with no practice on a keyboard were to try this against someone who had practiced moving joysticks back and forth for years, the dysgraphic would lose.

so christian you are saying the same person would get the same amount of strokes in the same amount of time using both methods?

Is good control required?  On Track 'N Field you can hit a joystick, let it bounce back and forth, then hit it again.  On some events (High Jump) you want left/right alternation instead of 4/6/8 finger technique.  If you have a joystick with the correct "bounce" you can register "left" + "right" inputs very fast.  Based on the play by top Track 'N Field players I think it is definitely faster with a joystick to do this than to use a keyboard.  For "controlled" back and forth motions like required in DK, I think a keyboard is more exact.

My total experience using a joystick over the past 25 years amounts to less than 4 hours.

With that disclaimer aside, I would think the longer the throw of the joystick (and assuming the left/right inputs must actually register to be counted), the greater the disadvantage versus a keyboard.  A joystick with a very short throw, requiring only the slightest tap, levels the playing field and makes it too close for me to call.

Almost everything in this thread can be taken out of context.

Indeed.  As I was typing, I thought to myself, "There must be several ways of articulating the qualifier that are far less suggestive."  Ultimately, I decided to just let it go (another double entendre).   ;)

I suspect Vincent will be along later today for the "piling on" festivities.

I think that by looking at the poll we would know how many strokes is faster.

Does that bar graph look familiar to anyone? I am sure I can get my joystick looking like that after just a couple strokes but I can't promise that it will last the full 100 strokes, that is a long time! With some lubrication to the joystick the stroking may occur quicker...

No homo

I find it hilarious that, Mrs. Kong, here, was able to subtly slip in the 'no homo'.
